This is a well-lit, sunny walled bedroom, with bamboo flooring, two windows, a small skylight, plenty of space. Comes with drawer cabinet, closet, and optional giant bean bag sofa on a frame (so it won't roll all over the place!).
Queen-size bed, several pillows, solid frame with headboard shelf, table lamp, small desk, curtained closet
Kitchen, refrigerator, Wifi, all utilities, shared bathroom, front and back yard, lending library in front of house, firepit in backyard social area, open living room with woodstove
I'm usually around during the daytime, until my classes, and then back about late evening. You're very welcome to help yourself to use the kitchen (as long as you clean up, like a hostel), and prepare food you purchased. There may be two of us, and our short dog, Pepper, a wire-haired dachshund - terrier mix. She's 100% bark and no bite.
The house has easy access to hwy 101, 85, Dumbarton bridge, and Stanford University; 10-mins driving to downtown, Los Altos, Mountain View, and Redwood City. Bus stop at corner of our block, trains about 5 min drive away with parking. Park across the street for tots, dogs, picnics, soccer.
Parking on the street, or driveway.
We have printed house rules for guests staying over one week to look over and sign, so that we're in agreement. As we are looking for long-term housemates, we have shared jobs within the house to keep everybody sane and sanitary.
[NOTE: Dog-related jobs, or Masterbedroom / bathroom tasks are exempt for AirBnB guests.]
No smoking, drugs, or loud noises.
Quiet hours 10 pm to 7 am.
No food or drink (water ONLY okay) in the bedroom. Food and drinks are ONLY okay in the Kitchen and Dining Room. (This is mainly to prevent a pest problem.)
Please leave your door open sometimes to let the air circulate.
5 minute showers only. California is in a severe drought
Keep it clean
Your Personal Storage areas
When we buy a TV, this will apply: You are welcome to watch the TV in the Living Room, please be sure to turn it off when finished. Not too loud as to disturb others in the house.

Please return your foods to the Refrigerator or Pantry when finished with all meals or foods. (Think Pest Prevention)
Clean all counters in Kitchen after cooking or preparing food - Snacks, Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.
Eating any food needs to be in the Kitchen or the Dining Room, and sometimes the Living Room, NOT in the bedroom due to pests.
Composting - yes, we try to do that...
Garbage and Recycling - not all garbage cans are for recycled or garbage!
You are welcome to use the garden and yards.
Be sure to clean up the ashes if using the firepit.
Lean furniture facing down if possible to prevent leaves and debris from gathering on seats.
Raking of sand patio is one of the chores.
Leaves can be raked into mulched areas.
Include Washing up Dishes, Unloading dishwasher, sweeping floors, vacuum cleaning, taking out the garbage, etc.
Each month, we all shift and change chores! See posted list of complete tasks hanging in the kitchen.
Chores to be done weekly
You are welcome to use the washing machine to wash clothes; please ask us how to use the machines.
You will be provided with a set of keys for the home
If you lose your keys you will need to pay for new ones to be cut
Please conserve energy - TURN OFF lights, water, heater whenever possible
All breakages in the home must be paid for by you at the time of the breakage
Things will come up, and it's best to bring them up whenever we have a chance to all sit down and discuss what to do.
This may seem like a lot, but we're generally really pretty chill around here, as long as folks are considerate. Welcome to our home!

I'm currently a student at San Francisco State University, working on my masters in Industrial Design.
I have a daughter in high school, who hopes to be a veterinarian, orthodontist, or a singer. My two sons are grown up and live somewhat nearby. We have two small dogs: Pepper, a Wire-Haired Dachshund Terrier Mix who we found in a parking lot when she was only 6-months-old, in 2011; and Tucker, a 3-year-old Chihuahua Mix who we just adopted on July 23, 2016. We are all pretty busy and active people, and also sociable. We'd love to meet people, get to know them well, and keep in touch.
My 2nd son, daughter and I traveled around the world for 10 months in 2010-11, in pursuit of glass-blowing, and learning about different countries. What we've learned is ... the world is a really BIG place, and there are so many more places to visit, as well as return.
I like to see movies, go to some concerts. I am on a dragon boat team (5th season), traveling sometimes to out of town races. I love to cook when I have a chance, the ingredients, and time. Other exercise are hiking, bicycling, yoga, and pilates.
We have hosted several years now, mainly for students, but am now are expanding to meet other people. We hope that you will stay with us at least 6 months, preferably a year, share with us your culture, stories, and humor, and keep in touch with us as we grow.
Besides the Golden Rule - "Do onto others as you would have them do unto you" - we live by "Always learn." What about you?
