Kenneth was an incredible host! From the time we booked our reservation, he began communicating with us, answering any question we had and providing suggestions to help us with our stay. The location is breathtaking.
The house is situated at the top of a hill overlooking Darkwood Beach. It is nestled among lush, green, tropical vegetation where the tradewinds of the sea meet those of the mountains. Although there is no air conditioning, the breezes, along with the fans are plenty to keep you comfortable when you sleep at night.
If you are planning to visit other beaches and tour the island you should rent a car. The beach is about a 5-10 minute walk from the house but keep in mind that you are on a mountain so the walk back is uphill in the heat. We did it a couple of times but driving down was much easier. During our week there, we visited many beaches on the island, however, Darkwood was still our favorite. The water was crystal clear and the sand was soft. There were no rocks or coral to navigate over, however, if you are interested in snorkeling there are areas off to the far left and right where you can do that.
This is a quiet, peaceful retreat where you can relax and enjoy all that nature has to offer, the sea, mountains, wildlife, breezes, and sunsets.
