A retired high school principal, originally from Scotland. I have a son, daughter and two delightful grandsons. I love to travel, read, walk, potter in the garden and entertain. I am a member of Trefoil, Girl Guides of Canada, and am qualified to teach Scottish country dancing but no longer teach. I enjoy the monthly film society movies and have a season's pass to live theatre. My dogs are a large part of my life and I am a member of the BC Keeshond Club. i have friends who come and stay regularly. I am friendly and empathetic and welcome young people to our home. My motto is carpe diem. ( my MA is in classics hence the Latin motto).
My favourite cities are Barcelona, Prague, Bruges and Edinburgh where i studied and worked. I love the Isle of Skye in Scotland and visit there annually.
My favourite novels are historical or mysteries e.g. Ian Rankin, Phillipa Gregory and Val Mcdermid. I am enjoying some Canadian authors e.g.Louise Penny and Alice Monro.
I love jazz, especially Dixieland and folk groups.
I can't live without my family, annual trips to Scotland, good wine and Scotch, theatre, my dogs and books.
