An artistic, craftsman-styled home with a brand new guest room & front porch made for sipping and reading. House streams with light from many windows and skylights/skytubes, yet for those who like dark bedrooms, mine have black out shades. Restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, theatre, library, & Farmers' Mkt. are within a 5-20 min. walk. UO is a 30-40 or 15 min bike ride. Buses run two blocks away, and biking is super easy. Plz note that I keep the cleaning fee reasonable!
This is an eco-friendly home (bamboo kitchen floor, skylights, tyvex decking, Hardy plank siding, on-demand water heater) where a love of art and books is obvious. Stay in one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Eugene, teeming with breweries and local coffee shops, close to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts and a 5 minute drive to UO. Enjoy the Little Free Library in the front yard, where you'll have a choice of books to borrow or just take.
If you have a bike (or want to rent one nearby), jump on one of the bike trails that run near my house and ride for miles.
You'll easy access with a key pad code I'll send you before arrival. Your room was built 2 years ago and has up-to-date features like plenty of bedside space and easy-to-reach plugs for your various electronics, as well as good insulation and a great overhead fan. The queen-sized bed has quality linens and lot of pillows. A window seat provides a view to my garden. The room has an en suite half bath, and you'll have private use of another bath with a shower. This is a vegetarian household (no meat, fish, fowl,), and you're welcome to store or cook any vegetarian foods, do laundry, enjoy the front porch with its big chairs and hanging swing, or sit by the gas fireplace and watch the rain beat on the skylight in the living room. (Or perhaps the sun will be shining in...). I provide coffee and teas, which you can enjoy anywhere in the house or garden.
I'm happy to welcome guests and interact as much as you like, or to basically leave you alone -- your choice. I have available lots of information on local places of interest and maps of the UO campus and delight in sharing my extensive knowledge of Eugene. I can point out places to hike and am near great walking/biking paths.
The house is on a quiet street with a small street divider that keeps traffic to a minimum. We have lots of free on-street parking available. A train track does run 5 blocks away, so keep that in mind if you think it would bother you. Reviews do say this is a quiet place to sleep with a great bed!
Please, no smoking of any kind. I ask people to remove shoes to preserve the beautiful wood floors and rugs. Please keep noise down after 10 p.m.This is a vegetarian home, so no meat, fish, or fowl. There are lots of great restaurants/pubs/bakeries within walking distance.
You're welcome to do a load of laundry if needed, but please, only one load. Make sure that both washing and drying are completed by 10 p.m.

Retired literature teacher. Well traveled, speaks decent Spanish. Loves to bike and read and be a grandma. I don't smoke or drink alcohol. Am vegetarian. As a guest, I'm definitely not a party person and appreciate a quiet neighborhood. I can be quiet and unobtrusive or sit around and swap tall tales if you're so inclined.
