In the jungle in the Maya Mountains foothills, this small eco-friendly inn is situated on an organic cacao farm. Creeks and trails on the property, off the grid with solar and generator power, a small restaurant for guests, great for bird watchers. Twice daily bus service between Punta Gorda and Jalacte passes the property on a good paved road. Pick up/drop off by arrangement. Quiet and off the beaten track - good for solitude seekers and nature lovers. Dogs on property.
Spacious room with private veranda, en suite shower and toilet, comfortable queen size bed and two burner propane stove. No fridge but storage space available in restaurant fridge and small cooler with ice can be provided. Watch birds from your bed!
Swimming pool, restaurant, creeks and trails. Wifi (slow) at restaurant free of charge. Meals by arrangement.
Host Kevin and his four large, friendly dogs live on site. Continental breakfast is included.
About 21 miles from nearest town of Punta Gorda, Belize. On paved road with regular bus service. Centrally located for ruins and caves
People who love nature, respect their environment and have a sense of humor are welcome. Off the beaten track with the usual challenges of living in the jungle, solar and generator power only, we welcome bird watchers and nature lovers who can appreciate solitude and understand that sometimes things go wrong! We respect nature and share our space with a variety of jungle inhabitants. Not the ideal place for people who are intimidated by spiders and other creepy crawlies.

I manage a busy yacht charter operation and am co-owner of The Farm Inn, an organic chocolate farm with a guesthouse and restaurant, which is run by my husband Kevin, who lives on the farm. We sailed our own yacht from South Africa to the Caribbean with our children who are now adults with their own families. We have been working in the hospitality industry for 15 years and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and introducing them to the beauty of southern Belize. We love the simple life, being at one with nature and keeping it real. Kevin is very practical and loves the farming aspect of our business, learning daily from the Mayan people around us. I love birding and generally spend my days at The Farm Inn with binoculars glued to my face and a reference book in hand.
We like people who are interested in everything around them, who join in and who understand that "off the grid" means no air conditioning and slow internet service to no internet service at times. We love dogs and have four big friendly dogs who are part of the family, so expect our guests to acept their presence
