Please refrain from use of strong perfumes, colognes, and shampoos with strong chemical odors please. If you can't pronounce the ingredient then you might want to research it's origin. Also please refrain from smoking in or near house. Our kitchen is our favourite hang out place so we observe a few rules like no frying of meat or anything oddly smelling. Durian is fine or most herbal tea blends. We are looking for blue lotus flower tea if you have some. Coka Cola and Ketchup are strictly verbotten as is white sugar and white refined flours.
You must text or call us after paying for reservation so we can make sure you are clear on the directions and also to see if we can help you plan your next destination.
Main rules are about smells, so obviously smoking in or near the house is prohibited, this includes our back yard and front yard. Also with regards to the Wifi it is not permitted to hog the bandwidth with video or music streaming. New Zealand internet, power, gas, are expensive. For example, a BBH Backpackers hostel will charge $20 per 100MB of data card to access their wifi, hotel charge even more. This is about three hours of time on-line and maybe half hour of video. Hotels charge double that. So be conscious of hot water use and electricity use. Please turn off lights in rooms when not using.
There are two drain strainers on each sink. Never pour food or thick wastes down sinks, use toilets or bury in garden compost. Always ask us how to dispose and clean greasy cooking pans. There is a recycling box in kitchen for metal, plastics, and bottles. This gets emptied into a larger blue wheelie bin outside.
For guests staying longer than 7 days we can go over a more detailed rental agreement. A one week trial applies to all new guests so we can get a chance to see if you are house trained. In other words, can you clean up after yourself and pitch in with basic chores like emptying kitchen trash, compost, recycling, cleaning shower / bath after use, vaccuming your room once a week, linens get cleaned once a week ,etc...
