The apartment is on the first floor of a resort-like home in Forrest Hills area, where many ambassadors chose to have their home residencies. Located 7 min walk to red line metro, with 8 min metro ride to Farragut North/White House. Free parking.


The apartment features own access, independently controlled AC/heat, 2 closets, marble tiled bathroom with shower, a modern kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, hardwood floors in the living room/kitchen and heated tiled floors in the bedroom.

This is a ground floor, not a basement apartment - all rooms/bathroom are above grade level, have real large windows, and are filled with natural light.

Other amenities include:
- full size washer and dryer (the new facility installed in 2016);
- full/double size bed in the bedroom; twin XL pull-out sleeper in the living room accommodates 1 adult or 2 children;
- dining table seats up to 6;
- outside breakfast table with chairs;
- a pool (usage according to schedule communicated by the host at the time of the booking);
- Japanese garden;
- parking is available in a private driveway at the designated area;
- complimentary wireless Internet and flat screen TV with Netflix, amazon and other streaming apps.

All rooms have full-size windows overlooking the swimming pool and Japanese garden.

The guests will have to take about 10 low wide steps (up and down) to access the backyard which may present a problem for some people with mobility issues.


The guests will have access to all amenities as described. The pool deck area and sun lounges are reserved for the main house; the apartment has its' own designated outside area with breakfast table and chairs. Pool is open May 20- September 20. Guests are welcome to swim during hours coordinated with the host at the time of the booking. No unattended children in the backyard, please!


In many cases, we will meet you to provide access to the accommodation, but we will also send clear instructions how the key can be retrieved at the property. The unit is a part of a family property rental business, with "same day response policy" (the manager lives nearby). No third party agents or automated voice messages – our guests receive immediate response to their inquiries by texting or calling us.


The damage deposit for stays longer than 20 days is $500. Please, contact us in advance to receive a special offer for longer stays with the damage deposit adjusted according to the duration of your stay.
All stays exceeding 20 days are subject to the “utilities allowance” policy: the guest pays utilities against a pro-rated utility bill if the billed amount exceeds the “utilities allowance” agreed upon with the host at the time of the booking

Strictly a non-smoking unit, no-pet and no-entertainment property.

We ask our guests to be considerate to other residents: no partying, loud music, gatherings or anything of that sort. Only guests indicated in the booking form can access the unit, visitors are not permitted.

Swimming in the pool is not allowed unless explicitly authorized by the host.

Please, park only at the designated guest parking (the GUEST PARKING) sign. Do not leave your car in front of the garage or other driveway areas.

Rearranging the outside furniture, dining in the main patio/pool deck area, using the pool without the host prior consent, or other entertaining will result in the "entertaining fee" of $200, or loss of security deposit if such fee cannot be collected at the guest check out.

Late check out (by 4pm) can be arranged only if there is no other guest checking in the same day upon approval of the host. We are not able to offer late a check out after 4pm. The guest is responsible for all host expenses/losses in case of holdover (a late check out without host authorization), including but not limited to the additional cleaning fee, rent for one additional day, and any refunds issued for inconvenience/lost booking to the next guest etc.

Although guests are not expected to do any cleaning prior to their check out, they should treat the property with reasonable care, follow basic sanitary rules, and avoid causing damage to fixtures and appliances. Please, notify us immediately of any damages/malfunctions discovered upon arrival in order for us to ensure proper maintenance and good quality services for you and all future guests.

According to the booking terms, the guest agrees to indemnify the host for any damages/injuries caused or sustained by the guest and his visitors while using the swimming pool.

Please, do not feed wild animals (foxes, deer and birds) in the proximity of the property.

By booking this accommodation the guest agrees to waive any tenancy or homestead rights under DC law, and acknowledges that any consideration paid to the host represents a fee for hospitality services.

The location is really quiet that made me feel amazing. I can't imagine that DC has such a secret forest place. It's just 15minutes walk, then you have lots of restaurants and metro station. P is very nice and we communicate smoothly. I really enjoy this weekend in the house.

Very nice place. The listing matched the description and looked exactly like the pictures. The bed was quite comfortable. The internet worked very well. The neighborhood is quiet w/ tree-lined streets. Feels more like the suburbs rather than D.C. Quick easy drive or Uber to downtown D.C. Host provides plenty of information upon booking. A couple quirks; the bathroom is located just after entering the unit but outside the bedroom area. Secondly, the unit has a rear entry that is a dark. There are light sensors but there's a delay before the lights kick on so be forewarned if you check-in or come in at night. Overall, very nice place though.

Thank you for staying with us and for providing your feedback. We will adjust the sensor lights by the gate so that they kick on right when the person passes by. We don't advertise en-suite bathroom, it's separate from the bedroom area and accessible from the unit lobby. We are 7 min walk to red line metro (Van Ness), only 4 stations from the White House area, and no driving is needed to get to downtown. We will ensure that this information is included in our welcoming package - the neighborhood feels more like McLean so guests may not realize how central they are.

This listing is accurate but does include several drawbacks that you should know about before booking this unit. First, you access the unit through a locked gate located beside the house--you must lock and unlock the gate each time you enter/exit. Through the gate, you take several "boulder-like" stairs that are pretty, but there is no hand-rail. The steps are uneven and separate requiring you to carry your stuff up several stairs, then down several stairs, then across a patio, and finally down a few more stairs to get to the unit entrance. Unless you have good balance and are fairly agile don't book this. My mom would kill herself trying to get in or out. Fortunately she wasn't with me. It is also uncovered and it was raining so this was not ideal. Second, while the apartment does have a separate entrance it is a portion of the basement level of a house--only an interior door separates the two. This led me several times to think there was someone in the unit with me. There is a bathroom right next to the "bedroom" for this unit, so you can hear people in the bathroom. Third, the main entrance is a door with a large glass window that leads into a hallway. Off to one side of this hallway is the bathroom. The light in the hallway is motion-activated and comes on anytime you enter the hallway. While the entrance (and window) face the backyard, I thought the lack of privacy was a problem and the light coming on at night (if more than one person stays here) can be an issue. Also the hallway is pretty chilly at night. (It was fairly cold when I stayed) Fourth, the home is lovely and has a pool--reserved for the "big house"residents only although you do look out at it and whoever is using it through the stacked furniture that is in front of the window. Fifth, while there is parking available it is at the furthest point from the gate on the edge of a loose rock driveway--Once again, make sure you have good balance. Sixth, while it says it sleeps 4 on 2 beds- you better really like the other people since this is a double bed and a twin futon/couch which is far from comfortable. The "heated floor" is only a very small area right next to the bed-bring your slippers. The bathroom circuit breaker blew on Sunday (the dryer was broken)and we "texted" immediately. It took several hours for a response but they did reset it later. The box was inside the main portion of the house. Finally, we received a text message at one point that someone would be entering to clean the windows in about an hour-I thought this should have been handled when someone wasn't occupying the unit or more notice should have been given. It was very clean and it's in a lovely area.

The review contains misleading information practically on all points and person who wrote it has bitter attitude toward staying at airbnb-type accommodations which imply having a peak at the host's style of living. A standard hotel arrangement would work better for such guest. Addressing some points, a reasonable person would not leave gate into backyard open in DC, and wouldn't have problems parking in designated area of the driveway which is literally 20 feet away from the entrance so not to block the access for postal vehicles. Most would not even consider these house policies as negatives but rather positives serving their own security. Similarly, on all points: the guest okd cleaning of windows on short notice otherwise nobody would have entered the unit (and she was home during the cleaning). The circuit breaker was fixed within hours and the guest mentioned they wouldn't be even home during those hours. We will include more pictures of the entrance area to show that there are no "stairs" but landscaped steps each about 5 inch high which didn't present an issue for nandicapped guests staying at this property in the past. The furtnire "stocked" by their window is the pool cover holder less than 2 feet high and not at the level of their window or sight; and their own breakfast chairs that they didn't bother to use. Again, we are very disappointed that such a prejudiced against the airbnb-style accomodation guest happened to stay at our property.
