Two young professionals (non-profit) who enjoy hosting friends, but we travel often. The living room is like a bedroom - we share the kitchen, back deck, bathroom with guests. When we're traveling for work, you have the whole place. Come!
We have lots of space in our 2bdrm including your own cozy living room area. We are happy to share our home!
It works best for people who are sight seeing or visiting Boston for conferences. If you plan to be out and about and just want a nice place to come back and relax in, this is a good place for you to stay.
You'll have plenty of space for your things, room in the kitchen to cook and space in the fridge. Free WiFi. Friendly hosts if we're home when you visit.
We'd love to hang with you if we're not traveling during your stay. We can take you out in Davis, swap travel stories and listen to live music if that's what you'd want. We are also fine letting you enjoy the neighborhood and be in the house on your own.
The Living Room Cove is in the front part of the house near the bathroom. We've hung curtains for added privacy and there are old sliding pocket doors that are a bit finicky but can be used if necessary.
We do not have a TV or cable, but the internet allows for streaming and is set up in the living room so there are no connection issues for our guests.
There's also only one bathroom, so if you visit while we are home we will plan out a shower rotation.
The Living Room Cove does have a dresser with linens and a vanity as well for any daily primping or just for checkin yourself out before you go. :)
There is no in house laundry unfortunately, but an affordable laundro-mat is just a 5 min walk away if you need it.
Last thing, our dish washer has two hands (yours!) and a sponge for taking care of any dishes that you use-and you are welcome to any of the kitchen supplies as long as you clean up after yourself.
Respect our place and leave things as you found them. We prefer no pets but ask us if you have a furry (or scaley) friend we might make an exception. We also prefer that you don't bring other guests over before asking us. We have neighbors in the two other units and don't want them to be disturbed with many strangers.
Me and Emily (my roommate) work for a non-profit that protects the environment and democracy and we mobilize the public to be active citizens. We love singing and playing music and enjoy the company of other people (old and new friends). We've traveled around the world a bit and like to share stories - we have relatives and friends in England, Scotland, Spain, Italy, and some other more exotic places like India, Brazil, and Montreal (ooo!). We enjoy having guests at our house and hate to see the space empty - which happens more often than we'd like because we both travel quite a bit for work.
It's important that people feel comfortable when they stay with us. We'll take the time to get to know you if we're around when you stay. But if you'd like your own time and space that's fine as well. We'll let you know where all the good restaurants and bars are around the area, we have recommendations for yoga studios and rock climbing gyms as well.
We hope you come enjoy Somerville soon!
