As this has been my home for many years, you will find it more cosy, comfortable, and informal, than minimalist or pristine. An early Victorian, 3-storied, terraced house and a Grade II listed building, it is situated halfway between Ledbury train station and the town centre. The guest room on the first floor is spacious, with a large bay window overlooking the street and the original Victorian tiled fireplace.
The house is on The Homend, which is the main high street in Ledbury.
The large first floor double bedroom is spacious and comfortable and across the landing is the shared bathroom, where guests are, of course, given priority use.
The front door leads directly from the street into my living room and beyond that the kitchen and dining room. Guests will need to pass through this area to access the bedroom room upstairs on the first floor.
Guests are welcome to use the garden either for relaxing or smoking. A bit of light weeding is also always appreciated should you find the time!
I am usually available but will notify guests if I am going to be out and about.
BE AWARE that I do have an exuberant young dog, Betsy, who is likely to bark and/or jump up. She is probably best ignored, as eye contact or attempts to be friendly often seem to result in frenzied barking. Please be assured however, that she has a sweet nature, and has never been known to bite. She will make friends with you, but in her own time.
//// As the room overlooks the main high street, there is a bit of traffic noise, which sometimes starts quite early. Although the double glazing does minimise this, very light sleepers might find this a concern. I should point out however, that none of my guests have so far been disturbed or had any difficulty sleeping soundly throughout their stay.
I like my own space for eating meals and for relaxing in the evening. However, I appreciate that there will be occasions when guests might find they need information or assistance, and under those circumstances I am happy to help at any time.
My house is a no-smoking house. You are welcome to step outside the kitchen into the garden to smoke.
I enjoy a wide range of music, dance, movies, reading and art. I also paint, landscapes mostly, and make functional pottery.
I love being outdoors and frequently walk my little dog, Betsy on the nearby Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstandng Natural Beauty (AONB).
I have travelled extensively during the course of my career but am now retired and love spending time at home.
