Welcome to Alexandria, your (hopefully) future home!
We're a coliving house, so if you enjoy living with positive, productive people, this place is for you.
No community involvement is required, but everyone who lives here is welcome to our dinners, hikes, movie nights, trips to San Francisco, intelligently run and under control parties, discussions, speaker nights, and friendship.
Great for founders, travelers, students, and professionals recently out of college. LGBT friendly :-)
We're a coliving house of 14 people who are dedicated to personal growth, ambitious projects to change the world, and a Burning Man-esque spirit of exploration and mutual support. We to make fun things happen and have many house events and outings each month.
We're currently all men, and happy to accept women in a shared gender room. At this time we don't have a room for women only. Silicon Valley gender ratios - we try our best! :-)
Topics of interest include among many, meditation, leadership, spirituality, shamanism, aerospace, AI and machine learning, molecular gastronomy, mobile app development, hardware hackathons, themed parties, and urban farming. At Alexandria House we are opening our doors to the world and inviting you into our shared community.
Alexandria is a 15-20 minute bike ride to Downtown Palo Alto and the Caltrain station, which you can use to get to SF.
We have multiple private rooms and shared rooms, based on your budget. The shared spaces are furnished bedrooms with housemates prescreened for a good culture fit and pleasant experience; we do our best to ensure everyone cares about cleanliness and quiet during the night.
We have delightful social events happening at our place every week. Mondays we play host to Stanford Salon - an intellectual, emotional and experiential gathering - with about 50+ attendees and mind blowing talks.
On Wednesdays, we have our Fire Night - where we roast marshmallows around our chimney fire with 30+ people from the neighborhood.
On weekends we host dinner parties and home hackathons.
The house comes equipped with
-high speed internet and coworking space,
-amenities such as full kitchen, hot tub, laundry facilities and maid service.
-Comfy lounge space both inside and out.
-lush backyard with vegetable garden, and fireplace.

Interaction with Guests
We are super friendly - and have played host to people from all over the world, from Warsaw to Paris to Nairobi to Berlin. We are looking to grow a global community of makers and shapers and happy to have you along for the ride.
ALEXANDRIA ROOM RATES, SPRING 2017
You may have a pick of 8 different rooms! Depending on how full we are, anywhere between 1-6 types of rooms are open at a given time. We have several airbnb listings to reflect this, and no matter what listing you applied on, we can adjust the room you're scheduled for via special offer.
For similar accommodations, we're 10% lower than market rate to ensure we stay full, and have enough applications to only accept good people who are kind, clean, adventurous and happy :-)
Note that these are long term (4 months+) room rates for permanent residents, and airbnb typically ads fees on their end for booking, so the prices you see may be slightly higher. Happy to discuss long term and group discounts.
Through at least April 2017, all the rooms except Ravenclaw will either be all men or co-ed. Ravenclaw is all women.
Alchemist's Circle: 2 person room with queen beds, shared hallway bathroom (with 1 single): $1250 per spot
Comfy bunk beds for the rest of our spaces:
Ravenclaw: 3 person room, bathroom inside, huge closet, $1100
Master Bedroom Suite: 4 person room, huge bathroom inside, $1200
Lounge: 4 person room, shared bathroom, beautifully renovated garage with heat and air and art and bunks. Tallest ceiling in the house, $800.
Tiny house: Single outside, shared bathroom, 10 second walk to house (20 feet), $1500
Transfiguration: Single inside, $1900, available in May
Utilities are included in all rooms, including hottub and all common spaces, kitchen, and 5 refrigerators. Parking is free in the driveway and in the street, very safe area.
All common areas, magical hot tub (don't tell the world it's a time machine - that's our competitive advantage!)
**One reservation per guest please.** If the weekly price is $100, for example, the weekly price for two people on the same booking is $200.
Thanks for booking at Alexandria!
Please make one booking per guest.
Note that the default space is our Lounge, a lovely converted garage area. It's a casual, shared space. See you soon!
We'll do our best to make sure a housemate is present during your stay. Some of us work from home, and if you want to be sure to meet someone here, we can arrange that via messaging. Guaranteed someone will be present if you'd like to arrive between 10am-10pm and give at least 24 hours notice.
I'm always improving and adding to accommodations based on guest feedback, and re-invest a portion of every stay into making Alexandria better. If at any time you have a special request - especially if you'd like to stay here again - we'll take it to heart!
We go to the basics :)
- Please clean up after yourself
- Be open and genuine
- Be responsible with your belongings and your actions
Quiet hours of common spaces are 11pm-9am; many of us work then, just try to keep the volume down. All rooms have draft stop cushions under doors, and are quite quiet at night :-)
Please don't torrent or do anything else that could compromise the internet or digital security for others. We've had 15+ people working from our 112mbps business grade internet, and no issues :-)
Driveway and street parking is available and free.
Housemate quotes on top; founder bio in the middle :-)
Home to hackers, hustlers, teachers, and travelers dedicated to building a better world, together.
"This home is like an embassy for culture, welcoming ambassadors of worldly wisdoms and ingenious strategies for improvement of self, business, and world. Plus the parties are pretty good."
"Alexandria was more than a house - it was a family, in every sense of the word. We ate together, laughed together, learned together, supported one another, and had a blast."
"The family at Alexandria that will support your riskiest adventures emotionally, creatively, intellectually, and every other meaningful way without judgement"
"With lambda calculus discussions over breakfast, weekly Salons,
late night hot tub chats, homemade ice cream and epic shindigs. the house has grown to be a cultural renaissance
in sleepy Palo Alto."
Me (House founder):
In over 10 years of entrepreneurship, I've been convinced that self-mastery is a key determinant of our biggest successes and failures.
I mentor startups to help them refine their visions, business models and monetization strategy. This often leads to sales coaching, which I really enjoy and have studied extensively.
I’m obsessed with scalable approaches to dramatically enhance cognition, productivity and engagement. The prototype name for my current company was called "Engineered Self Optimization," because I think it's ridiculously unfortunate for anyone not to be their best. We constantly upgrade our technology; why not make sure our life and biology is in the absolute best state possible?
When there's time, I've been a painter, improv joke teller, transhumanist, and writer, and started zen meditation at age 13.
I started managing people at 14 and launched my first company at 19. I love studying leadership, strategy, sales, and marketing, and love building exceptional teams. Thanks to passionate coworkers, my companies have grossed $5M+, created several hundred jobs and dozens of internships.
I study patterns in society that will affect a product’s success, and try to predict where the world is heading 5, 10 and 20 years from now. AI, synthetic biology, neural interfaces, robotics, security and data science are among the most important exponential technologies we can study.
As this continues, our ability to adapt, learn and evolve will affect our success potentially more than any other factor. I wish, as kids, we were taught self-actualization, logic, heuristics, biases, rationalism, argumentation and compassion. The world would be such a better place if more people were as proficient with internal tools (psychology) as they are with external tools (technology).
I only work with people who are authentic, genuine, mindful, and have high integrity.
I've built for several life-optimization tools in the links below.
If you'd like to collaborate and make these into well designed products, let me know!
