You'll see a bicycle parked outside for your errands and that quick dash to the convenience stores on either side.
You will be staying in a very clean, safe and exclusive neighbourhood. The Aquarium is an easy 5-min stroll away. Try a sumptuous buffet with farm fresh veggies just round the corner, a 5-min walk. Great value for an interesting spread at only ¥880 per person for lunch. UNESCO listed Nishihonganji is just 9 minutes away. Take buses to Gion, Kinkakuji - Golden Temple, downtown area, Nishiki market.
The interior is in traditional Japanese layout using sliding doors throughout except for the the bath and toilet.
There are 2 bedrooms with dividing, Japanese sliding doors and a balcony upstairs. The tatami tea room is downstairs, which opens out into the dining area and an open kitchen.
The tatami room is a traditional tea room or living area. This is convertible into an extra bedroom for two adults. There's Japanese green tea and coffee so you can have a quiet cuppa before you set off on your travel adventures for the day.
The Panasonic system kitchen looks out into a minimalist backyard. It is equipped with built-in cooker hob and exhaust, a fish grill underneath, and multi-menu controls. The microwave has oven and grilling functionalities as well. A fridge is there to keep your drinks cold.
The bath area is divided into dry and wet areas. The washer in the dry area, gives your laundry a Silver Ion anti-bacterial wash. A hair dryer is provided in the vanity drawer and toiletries in the cabinet.
The bathroom climate is programmable to recycle, cool, or heat air. Inside, you can preset your bath water settings at the bathtub control panel or at the other control panel in the kitchen. Also, you get to relax in a full-sized bathtub instead of the compacted versions. There is also an attached shower. You will be provided with linen, bath towels, hand towels, tea towel. So no worries about towels bulking up your luggage.
The toilet with automated bidet is separate.

However, we ask that guests do not open nor use any of our stored linens/beddings/towels that you have not booked for. Thank you.
We will arrange a meet and greet session for you, to introduce the area and do a key exchange.
We will prepare customised extra maps and information upon your reservation. There are traveller's books, brochures and maps in the machiya so you can plan and explore at your own pace. We speak both English and Mandarin, so do connect with us through the AirBnB messaging system.
We hope you will arrive as guests but leave as friends!
We support an earth-friendly initiative so please try to reduce your carbon footprint. Do turn off lights, air-conditioning, etc. before leaving the house.
We will do our best to make sure that you are comfortably settled and in turn, please treat our house kindly and mindfully.
Please respect our lovely, gentle Japanese neighbours. Be calm and quiet especially towards evening.

If you could, please confirm what time you are expect to arrive, and if are flying in your flight number so we can ensure we have the property ready for you.
Please DO NOT SMOKE IN OR AROUND OUR PROPERTY. Smoking on the balcony is not allowed as our neighbours are uncomfortable with this too as the smoke travels into their homes. Please be considerate.
The maximum of guests is 6, including children.
Do not put your food, drinks or wet towels directly on our wood or tatami flooring. Please use the trays provided to avoid damaging our surfaces.
Please do not drag your luggage across the tatami as it damages the tatami weaving.
We ask that guests do not open nor use any of our stored items such as linens/beddings etc. that have not been booked for. Thank you for your cooperation.
There's a bamboo ladder in the bath area for hanging your towels. I know it is tempting but please do not step on it! For your own safety, do be aware that it may break under your weight.
Kindly observe our check-in at 3pm and check-out at 10am. We need time for a proper cleaning and to prepare the house fully for you.
Please be mindful of our neighbours and keep the noise level down especially towards evening.
LATE CHECK-INS after 9 pm:
We will try our best to accommodate your check in time, on a case-basis. However, we prefer that you respect and observe our check-in/check-out times. Please understand that late or last minute check-ins requires us to re-shuffle our schedule. Therefore, we will levy a ¥5000 surcharge, payable upon check-in.
Please allow at least 30 mins for meet and greet. This is important as we need to brief you on home safety and important information for living harmoniously within our beautiful neighbourhood.
