My wife and I spent 8 days in Cuba, and the biggest takeaway from our experience is that the Cuban culture is predicated on trust, friendliness and relationships. Juan Carlos, Lisma, and Junior are a premier embodiment of this understanding. We stayed at Juan Carlos and Rosita's place for 3 nights and, although Rosita was away, Juan Carlos provided the best possible experience one could hope for. First, the apartment was super clean and spacious. We had plenty of hot water (and running water for that matter), toilet paper, etc. Juan Carlos and Lisma cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for us for only $5 CUC per person and it was plentiful and fantastic. My wife and I quickly learned that in Cuba, the best food comes from the casas and it is the most economical. Do not waste your time with restaurants. The restaurant industry in Cuba is marginal at best. The real flavor and experience comes from the casas. Don't miss out on Juan Carlos' and Lisma's cooking - and be sure that Junior joins you at the table, he is a fantastic and friendly guy (we miss him already). Juan Carlos and Lisma arranged transportation to and from the playas, and back to Havana. In addition, Juan Carlos arranged an all-day horseback riding trip where we stopped for a pig roast lunch, and went to a river pool for a swim (it is typically a waterfall, but because of the drought, the fall was dry). The swim was perfect for cooling off and there was even a makeshift bar there serving ice cold cervezas, mojitos, and fresh coconut water cut on site. Overall, Trinidad is beautiful, we liked it much better than Havana, but this is mostly because of how wonderful Juan Carlos, Lisma, and Junior were. We made friends for life! I almost forgot, Juan Carlos also offers salsa lessons for $10 CUC per hour. Take advantage of that so you can go out and dance at night. When traveling in Cuba it is essential that you stay where the host can help you with the ins and outs of the island. You are in great hands at this casa. You won't regret it! Best, Troy and Karen

Great location but that is the only good thing that I can say about the place. You can do much better on your own.

Our stay was not good as we didn't have water for a little more than a day of it. For that reason I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't stay again. That aside, here is additional information about our stay: The house was in a convenient location. It is basic but if only using for sleeping, adequate for that (assuming there is water for your stay). The AC works well and keeps the bedroom cool though condensation leaks cause quite a bit of water on the floor of the bedroom and in the doorway into the bathroom. Lisma, the local woman who checked us in was helpful with arranging our cab for when we left and contacting our next host to notify of when we would arrive.

Susan I`m disappointed about your rating. We have a special service for our guests. A large water cistern and extra water tank on the roof. If there is no water in Trinidad, our guests have water. You have not reported to me, Juan Carlos, Lisma or (URL HIDDEN), the pump turn on. Saludos Rosita

This is the place to stay in Trinidad! Their place is right in the main square! There is so much to do and see! There is live music on every corner, vendors down every street, so many art galleries and eateries. You won't need a taxi because everything is at the max five minutes walking distance. Make sure to stop by la casa de musica, eat at a rooftop restaurant and take pictures on the top of the mirador. They will give you a ton of recommendations on where to eat, what to see, and what not to miss during your stay!

You will love the location of this Trinidad apartment. I can't begin to describe the feeling of being there. A total escape from the world we live in - we really did not want to leave.

This is a great place to stay! Perfect location to the central area. The bike rental was down the street and shopping was around the corner. This place was a great location and very clean. I definitely recommend when in Trinidad.

Well, let's start positive. It was only $33 a night. It was clean and in a good location. It had a toilet seat and toilet paper which are not always a given in Cuba. But it was very basic, a place to flop for the night. It had no windows, only a front door. We had to carry out luggage about five blocks from the address given to the apartment. Not an easy chore on cobble stone streets.
