My stay at Maria's place was by far the best experienced I've had using AirBnB. Her apartment is located in a safe (24-hour doorman) and scenic area in Stgo. Her apartment looks over Campus Oriente de la Universidad Catolica de Chile, which is one of the oldest Universities in South America. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, with wooded-floors, plenty of daylight, and the building is equipped with a central heating system which is uncommon in Stgo, but extremely important and practical during the winter-time. Two important amenities not mentioned in her profile are a gym (equipped with basic work out equipment... treadmill, elliptical etc) , and laundry machines (less than a dollar for a load of laundry). Maria was extremely approachable and accommodating. There are 2 groceries stores located within 5 blocks of her apartment. There is a bus stop located right outside her building, both bus routes will take you to a metro station (aprox. 15 mins interval). Irarrazaval, a major street, is only a couple of blocks away. Providencia which is a major hub for international tourists/travelers vacation/business, is approximately 10 blocks away. It offers a vibrant night-life, currency-exchange services, shopping & restaurants. The bus stop to Providencia is only a couple of blocks away; taxis are also constantly passing by, although I would recommend anyone who travels to Santiago to download Uber application which is a cheaper, faster, more reliable, and safer form of transportation than taxi services (for only $3-4 USD an Uber can get you to Providencia).
Last but not least, I believe the cost of my stay was of great value. In other words, I was pleasantly surprised with all aspects of my stay (location, transportation, comfort, space, etc) VS. price paid.
