Spacious and sensuously crafted from straw bales, recycled timbers and stone, The Bales enjoys the quiet of the Wombat Forest but is only 5 minutes' walk from Trentham. Perfect for a group of friends or 2 families, with pool table, playground and dam. Wind down in luxury.
Soak up the quiet of the Wombat Forest on the edge of town. The Bales resides on two beautiful treed acres, framed by open farmland, an avenue of mature pines and a wonderful dam. The home, which has been designed by an architect, is rustic in texture and modern in amenities.
Three bedrooms comprise a huge master suite with king bed and ensuite, queen bedroom and double bunk room. A second bathroom includes a bath. Two living areas with soaring windows, each with TV and fires, allow plenty of space to spread out. A pool table with cues and balls provides entertainment in the second living area. Choose from books for adults and kids, board games or the Playstation 3 with games and Blurays.
The open plan kitchen features a large fridge, breakfast bar, double oven, coffee machine and frother (with Nespresso capsules) and all the usual appliances. Tea, coffee, sugar and basic cooking ingredients are provided for your convenience.
The grounded feeling of luxury and comfort of the architecture is complimented by attention to the little things: the softest blankets on every bed, quality towels and linen, and a well-equipped kitchen.
A substantial north-east deck facing the dam and garden is perfect for your morning tea in the sun while you watch the children explore the cubby, playground and trampoline under the trees. Enjoy a meal outdoors or a sundowner, when you might spot the family of wallabies that graze in the gathering dusk. A gas barbecue on the deck will feed the hordes.
Sensor lights will switch on along the drive as you enter the gates (after dark).
The entire home and property is yours exclusively during your stay. The dam is shared with a neighbour so we ask you to respect their side. Nearer the time of your visit a code for the key-safe will be provided so that you may let yourselves in on arrival.
When you arrive the fireplaces will be ready to light.
In the unlikely event you experience any difficulties during your stay, please contact your host, Alex. We hope you have a restful and rejuvenating break at The Bales.

What about bushfires?
Unfortunately the risk of bushfire is very present in summer. Keep an eye on fire danger ratings during your stay. You must leave early in the day on a CODE RED or EXTREME rated day.
What about water and power?
The house relies solely on tank water. It tastes delicious and is safe to drink.
Kindly have regard for power consumption - keep windows and doors closed if using the heaters or air-conditioning and please switch them off when leaving for a period of time.
For the enjoyment of future guests, and to preserve the peaceful amenity of the area please observe the following rules:
1. This is not a party house. We welcome your celebrations and special occasions but please refrain from throwing a party. It is unfair to the neighbours who spend the weekend here enjoying the peacefulness of the bush. This includes:
*no loud music
*no antisocial behaviour outdoors
*no visitors at the house beyond the registered number of sleeping guests!
2. Please don't stray beyond the boundary fences into other people's paddocks.
3. No pets are allowed on the property. They can disturb the wildlife and get messy bounding around on wet grass!
4. Take care of the worms in the property's Biolytix waste treatment plant. The house is not connected to mains sewage.
*Don't pour alcohol or medicine down the drains
*Dispose of sanitary items and nappies in the bins using nappy sacks provided.
5. Please attend to the following on departure:
*fires are out or dying (no water!)
*heaters and Playstation are switched off
* rubbish bags taken outside to the big bins
* BBQ is scraped down and wiped (easy to do while still hot!)
*lock up and return key to the safe at back door.
