We are an Aussie family of 4 living in Yokohama. Our home is an oasis of tranquility, with multiple indoor and outdoor rooms for living and relaxing. We have 2 bedrooms to offer, 1 with a western queen sized bed, tatami mats and traditional screens and guest bathroom, the other a single bed with wooden floor and screens (with plenty of room for an additional airbed if needed), with shared bathroom access. All rooms have reverse cycle air-conditioning ensuring year round comfort. We enjoy a rare back yard space as well as parks nearby with spectacular views of Yokohama and Mt Fuji.
However, a 1 minute walk leads you to a main road with a multitude of restaurants for all styles and budgets as well as shops and convenience stores. The bus stop there takes travellers to a choice of 3 train stations within a 15 minute ride, and a 10 minute train ride to the bustle of Yokohama, Minati Mirai, 50 minutes to Tokyo.
Guests are welcome to the shared living areas of the house, with the exceptions of our bedrooms and the study (upstairs). Please make yourselves at home, and you are welcome to make yourselves tea, coffee and snacks .
A selection of cereals, bread for toast and tea/coffee and fresh fruit is available for breakfast. Guests are invited to help themselves.
Martyn and Alexander will be at work and school during the day, and I am quite active in school and social groups, but happy to assist guests in travel plans and activities. Evenings are the best time to plan for the following day's adventures, as mornings can be quite busy and chaotic!
For those guests requiring privacy, we will of course respect your wishes.
We have bicycles that guests are welcome to borrow. The area around Honmoku is very flat, and the train station is just a comfortable 20min ride away.
