Cockabilly Beach flows into part of Acacia Bay, Lake Taupo. This refurbished studio is beneath the main residence. Plenty of places to explore. Only a 6.4 km / 10 minute drive from town and a great central base to explore the North Island of New Zealand.
Suitable for up to three adults or two adults and two children, the third bed is a foldout bed and with it set up the room space becomes quite cosy. Please check all the photos if you are booking for four guests.
You can be totally independent, collect the key from a conveniently placed lock box with your own personalized code.
IF YOU ARE BOOKING FOR FOUR PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS NEXT PART CAREFULLY AND VIEW ALL THE PHOTOS AVAILABLE. There is a foldout bed available by arrangement for a younger child, however this does make the room rather cosy. This studio is suited for up to 3 adults or a couple with up to 2 small children. School age children - SPECIAL OFFER - two for the price of one. Please send an inquiry so I may personalize the offer for your family. If you do an instant booking I am unable to alter it.
Plenty of cards, books and games at your disposal to enjoy. Linen and towels are provided with Electric blankets on both beds.
Off peak, this is a very quiet spot. During the summer holidays there is a very friendly, family atmosphere in the bay, with lots of water sports happening right at our front door.
Enjoy secure off road parking, with plenty of room to turn your vehicle around. However with larger Campervans it is better to park up on the street. Acacia Bay is a very quiet area and your vehicles are safe left on the road.
For a small one off fee of $20 you are welcome to bring your small non-shedding dog with you to avoid having to put it in a kennel. Please note, although the unit is well off the road the section is not secure so you will have to be responsible for it at all times. Do not leave unattended in the unit at any stage as this can cause stress for them to be left in a strange place. Please do not book in with a dog that moults, as this will cause embarrassment to both of us when I have to ask you to cancel your booking. I have to be very firm with this as it is unfair on future guests to have had a shedding dog in the unit. I appreciate your understanding of this.

You have the complete downstairs area for your convenience. The washing machine is available for your use at any time, dryer in the garage, so it's just a matter of arranging access. You can also arrange secure storage of items such as bikes to be locked up in my garage. It is a very short drive or a pleasant walk down to the local convenience store and restaurant/bar.
I am available to help you decide what the best options are available for you to make the most of your time here in this wonderful part of New Zealand. I try to meet you on arrival and see you off. You will get to meet Sootie, my little dog, and the cats.
You are welcome to the use of my kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP).
There is a fish net and bucket available if your young one would like to have a go at catching some of the plentiful Cockabillies, of course it would be on a catch and release basis. Discounts available - families with two school age children, two for the price of one - please make an inquiry so I can offer you my special rate.
• Check-in time is 2PM.
No more than four people are allowed to stay in the unit.
Please respect the room, wash up after yourselves, use the bin provided and put recyclables in the bin outside.
Please do not feed either Sootie or the cats, thank you.
If you have your dog with you please do not leave it alone in the unit as being left in a strange place with cause stress on the dog and may lead to barking and inappropriate behavior.
Hi, I'm Kym! I was born and raised in Acacia Bay Taupo, New Zealand. I live here with my dog Sootie and the three cats. I have recently done up my studio unit under the house to rent so I can share this magic spot by the Lake. I am very active with mountain biking, walking, dancing and know the area well having grown up just around the corner. I would, of course, be happy to share ideas on what to do around this very exciting place.
I really enjoy the company of my pets, and know what it's like to have to leave them at home. So if you have a well behaved dog you are very welcome to bring it along on holiday with you. Please be aware that the rental area is not fenced so please make sure your pet is safe.
My little dog Sootie is very quiet (most of the time) and pretty laid back, but she is also very welcoming and happy to spend time with you if that is what you would like.
