We are blessed to live in Lochmara Bay, which is about 10 min by boat from Picton and love to share our place and meet new people. Whether its peace and seclusion , water activities, tramping etc we would love to host you.
Kind Regards, Sheryll and Gary
The main Bedroom has a lovely queen sized bed, ensuite, wardrobe and is accessed off the main deck. The open plan kitchen and living room has a cosy lodge feel. With a fireplace it's toasty and warm in the Winter, and in Summer opens out onto the large main deck where you can enjoy the wonderful view, relax, and watch the various boats coming and going. If you need additional rooms, we have two other bedrooms that share the main bathroom and toilet.
You'll be welcome to use most areas apart from our private quarters.
We enjoy meeting new people and showing our guests some great Kiwi hospitality. There's lots of activities to do from kayaking and fishing gear available which were happy to help get you started. Most days Sheryll walks up to the track to the Queen Charlotte Track. It's steep but the views are just amazing, and your most welcome to join us. During the day we will generally be around the house or garden.
If you like a light breakfast and make your own we have various cereals and bread/toaster on hand, or if your prefer we're more than happy to provide a cooked breakfast, usually bacon and eggs, from our free range hens (this is included in the daily rate).
LUNCH & DINNER
Your welcome to bring your own food and cook your own lunch and dinner using the full kitchen or the BBQ on the deck - cooking basics are readily at hand.
If you prefer, we're more than happy can make lunch and dinner for by arrangement, so you can just sit back enjoy your stay. We ask for $45/person/day to cover the costs of providing lunch and dinner. Generally we have dinner at around 6pm.
COFFEE / TEA
We have all of the basics available and your welcome to make your self at home.
Please bring any wine or beer that you would like to drink with you.
LOCHMARA LODGE RESTAURANT AND CAFE
Lochmara Lodge is just 2-3 minutes across the bay. They are open during the summer months and operate a lovely restaurant and cafe. It's often very busy so booking in advance is a good idea. They are generally happy to come and collect you, or you can take a dinghy across.
We do not smoke inside the house and ask our guests not to either. There are lots of areas outside where you can smoke.
Our small Jack Russell "Jilly" is responsible for possum control duties.
We would like nice, friendly and considerate guests who just want to have a great time. We're not too big on formal "house rules" and will just do our best to make you comfortable and welcome. Any smoking is outside.
We're Gary and Sheryll and its great to meet you. Gary has recently retired after 50+ years serving in the New Zealand Fire Service and Sheryll has owned several business.
Over the years we have enjoyed many holidays in the Queen Charlotte Sound and think its just the most beautiful place and that's why we have chosen to retire here.
We enjoy gardening and spending time with family, friends and making new friends along the way.
