Amandine & Lucas are 2 great hosts. They were travelling when we arrived, but a friend of them was there to patiently waiting for us, even if we arrived more than half an hour late. The apartment was clean and beautifully decorated, fully corresponding to the photos on airbnb. A&L left fresh flowers for us, plus a bottle of white wine with two glasses and more than one note to make us feel comfortable in the house and with them for any need or question we might had. The bathroom was "nickel": fresh towels and some beauty products, but not too many to feel overwhelmed. Same with the bedroom, fresh linens and clean. This is a general positive feeling about the apartment: it's a place warm and full of personality without being overwhelming, it's easy to understand that each piece of decoration has been wisely choosen. There's also a persistent nice smell, an invisible but important detail. The risk is that you might end up choosing to chill on the sofa instead of chasing Paris!
I lived in Belleville once upon a time so i already knew i liked the atmosphere, it's obviously something else from the rive gauche, less chic, more ethnic, more dirty. Also very interesting, surprising, tasty, affordable, artistic. Just facing the building there's a huge daily market, which is great if you like markets and fresh vegetables but maybe less attractive for people who like to stay in quiet areas, since A&L live on the 2nd floor and the sound is near (we didn't really mind, it's actually something nice to stare at when you're smoking on the balcony).
At some point Paris became unexpectedly cold for a mid-autumn week and we faced low temperature in the house because A&L are currently renovating the apartment and they didn't finish the heating system yet, which wasn't the best obviously, but they handled it very well, finding a solution very quickly by buying via internet an ausiliary heating system for us at the next door electronic shop, which solved the problem.
The kitchen had all we needed for cooking, included coffee and coffee machine, oil salt and all pepper and stuff, also a lot of bisquits and cans, bottle water in the fridge. That's it! Thank you A&L, i really recommend your place, especially in a city where affordable hotels are sadly very often very "pourri".
