Emilee and Kara arrived about 10 hours apart - something i wasn't informed that was going to happen until Emilee arrived on my doorstep. I usually do a brief welcome with basic information about the house, door key and invite any questions. I like to foster an atmosphere of trust early on. The next day, Emilee went out and I agreed to wait in for Kara who arrived at around 1pm - this was an exception to usual check-in timings but i wanted to offer support to allow the friends to have flexibility. Kara arrived, set her things down and was ready to go out within 20 minutes of arriving. Emilee told me on the phone, that from that day onward, she and Kara would be sticking together the whole rest of the trip. At no point was a second key requested and i wasn't given the impression one was needed but there did seem to be a change in the original plan of sticking together. I was a bit concerned about the key situation as i hadn't told Kara personally and since it became clear that they may be doing things at differnet times, I wanted reassurance on the phone that Emilee had tole Kara about how to lock the door properly. As stated in my listing, I welcome open communication to encourage ease during people's stay. Wishing Emilee and Kara all the best for future travels.
