You are welcome to stay in our owner-built timber frame solar powered home with us. Ida's room is upstairs, along with a sitting room. We'll share the main floor with you, which includes the bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

This large bedroom is upstairs and has a with a really comfy double bed. We can easily pull in the also-comfy floor mattress which sleeps two more. You'll share the kitchen and bathroom with the two of us who live there.

Most certainly we are available to help in any way.

Fern Hollow is an incredibly serene, peaceful, beautiful, and truly magical place. Liz and Dan are incredible hosts and so generous to open their cabin to travelers. The location is secluded but very close to town. Luna Farm, up the road, has wood oven pizza on Friday nights- not to be missed! We stayed the second night in their home and felt like family. If you have an opportunity to stay here, don't pass it up!

Peace on earth can still be found in a beautiful homestrad in the Upper Iowa River Valley where Liz and her family share their vision of the joys intentional living. The nearby small town of Decorah defined what's true and good and priceless about America's healthiest grassroots communities, but the scenic drive on ever smaller roads ends where the greatest peace can be found. In an old-growth walnut tree filled valley, the hand built timber frame and log cabin structures shelter a soul-full family who are willing to welcome weary traveller with open hearts. As much as I love the journey, this is one destination that you must experience to fully appreciate. It is well worth the drive, no matter where you are bound, to include at least one night in Liz's home. Our next visit will be at least 3 nights and will be greatly anticipated. Our 11 year old highly recommended we return, saying "It's like the good old days there." We agree.

Liz is a great host. Set in a beautiful valley, the charm and history is amazing. We felt as if we were visiting extended family! Thanks again.

This was an amazing experience! Our hosts were kindred spirits; gentle, kind people who have a great love and respect for their home and surrounding land. Three of my friends and I, stayed there comfortably, and can't wait to go back again. The old adage comes to mind,"We came as strangers and left as friends." Thank you, Liz and Daniel!

We are homesteaders, 30 years into learning ways to recreate and share one version of a good life. We garden, sing, make maple syrup, walk, preserve food, and try to keep the place up. We love the town of Decorah, 6 miles from where we live, and participate in the ongoing community arts and living events that are ever-sprouting from this happening little town.
