Our rustic getaway is a wonderfully located retreat with abundant wildlife around. The cabin is a two minute walk to Columbine Lake and a five minute drive to historic Grand Lake Village or Rocky Mountain National Park. We LOVE it - you will too!

We enjoyed our stay in the A frame cabin. Beautiful view out the large sliding glass doors w fall colors and enjoyed the excellent fire pit. Nice location so close to RMNP. Good stay for our fishing/golfing trip.

Just returned from a 3-day getaway at "The Grand Escape". What a wonderful spot! Traveled with my sister, daughter, and her boyfriend and dog (all adults except the dog). The cabin was just a described: comfortable, a little rustic, low-key, and charming. Plenty of space for …

The property and location are excellent! It was exactly what we were looking for. The location provided plenty of relaxation and was absolutely beautiful! The lake is about 150yards from the cabin and was breathtaking. I sat out by it with my wife after morning walks. The kids ( …

FANTASTIC GETAWAY at The Grand Escape for our family of 12 (two grandparents, my wife & I, and our eight kids ages 12 & under). The accommodations were indeed cozy, which is exactly what we expected and wanted (we brought three high quality sound machines, which is necessary for…

What a wonderful getaway at the Grand Escape. Went with another family (4 adults, 2 3 year olds, 18 month old and 6 month old) and there was plenty of room for everyone. Kids loved the cabin, especially the loft (so much pretending to be done!), the deck and, of course, outside! …

The hosts were very responsive at short notice. Basic location of home is good- very close to RMNP. Home is NOT NOT NOT suitable for 10 people. Not even 5 people. We had three adults and were very very cramped. "Bedrooms" are not rooms but remade closets with no doors. No doors!!…

Needless to say, this feedback is disappointing and while we appreciate frank feedback, we find it inaccurate on several accounts. Hence, the need for the response below. Our cabin is clearly described as rustic on the website and we have posted accurate pictures and details to assist potential renters in making their choices. We are very open, upfront and do not mislead. We shared the exact street address before this guest booked so she could (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and see the location as she had a question about views. The fact that other cabins are nearby should not have been a surprise. The property is on about a quarter acre which is typical for Grand Lake neighborhoods. The cabin is about 1800 sq ft spread over three levels. The cabin is cozy and well-appointed. There is enough bed space to sleep 12 and some people don't mind packing in to have affordable housing in a mountain town. Of course, the fewer the guests, the more private. Hearing feedback that it was cramped for 3 people is surprising and very contradictory to our other reviews but certainly different people can have different expectations. We've had numerous groups of 8 or more that have been quite happy with the accommodations and we regularly have large groups of family and friends there ourselves and it all works out just fine. As our listing describes, there are two working bathrooms (one full and one half) so the guest's comment that there is only one working bathroom is just not true. We do request the use of (provided) RV paper in the basement bathroom to prevent plumbing issues but that’s not been a problem with other visitors. This request is mentioned on our listing. The bedrooms are not closets - they are, in fact, bedrooms with closets. The main bedroom has a queen bed, desk, comfortable chair and a perfectly fine wood door. It is true that the two basement bedrooms do not have wood doors, instead double-layered curtains in doorways for privacy. You cannot see into the rooms with these curtains closed but the rooms are certainly not air-tight so conversations can be overheard. The reason for the non-wood doors is for fire-safety as those bedrooms do not have window exits. The loft is a loft - so no door - and accurate pictures of the beds are included in the listing - two singles on the floor and a double on a frame (not all three on the floor as this review states although not sure that matters). The reason for the low-profile beds is the A-frame design. It is simply not true that the staircase to the loft can only accommodate someone under 150 lbs or that the loft is only usable for small children or that there are bugs there. My husband and I sleep there for weeks at a time when we have extended family in town and he is well over 150 lbs. Many adult guests of all ages and sizes have used the space without an issue. A thorough cleaning is done after each guest and while mosquitoes or flies can certainly fly in doors left open (it is a cabin in the mountains), we have never had a bug problem. I don't doubt that it can get hot up there during the day in the summer but there is a screened window that can be opened for breeze and the nights generally cool down. We do not have air-conditioning, which again is very typical for cabins in Grand Lake or other Colorado mountain towns. The kitchen aisle-way is certainly narrow but we regularly have multiple people using it or passing through at the same time. Again, the pictures on the site are an accurate depiction. There is no dishwasher but we never stated there was one and we provide a cabinet full of paper plates and disposable cups and flatware in case someone doesn't like to wash dishes. It is true that the kitchen table is small - seats 4. However, it's not the "only" table as the review incorrectly states. There is a coffee table that people can use for eating as well if there's a larger group. There’s a small table on the deck too. In summary, it's a well-stocked, rustic A-frame cabin with a great location and ability to sleep a good-sized crew. We love the place and are saddened that this guest did not share the same sentiment. Fortunately, many others have. If you are a potential renter reading this review and have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.

My wife and I stay busy with demanding jobs, two kids and two dogs. We spend every free minute possible outdoors enjoying nature, whether it be the mountains or the beach.
