Nous avons eu un merveilleux séjour!
My partner and I stayed in Jean-Paul's residence for one week, Dec 28-Jan 4th. Overall this was a very pleasant stay! Jean-Paul was very thorough and accurate in how he described the residence, a former hotel now condo. A small guidebook was provided, and the space was immaculate when we arrived. Kitchen and bathroom had full amenities, even a washing machine and cooler and umbrella for beach days. One odd thing, the bed was actually two twins making up the king size. Free wifi, tv, and great sunset view.
There was a bit of confusion upon arrival as the building/hotel manager Yvana only spoke French, and my spoken French is weak, but once we had the keys in hand it was a lovely stay.
Beautiful western view of the lagoon and mountain from the porch, and just steps from the ocean as described. We loved the area, Cul-de-Sac was a great blend of a quiet neighborhood nestled on the French side of the island with access to nature, while also just being a quick drive to Marigot and 10-15 minute walk down the shoreline from beach-front clubs and restaurants. There is a store, bar, and dry cleaner on the premises, as well as a pool and tennis court. Notable is that the pool was not open or lit in the evenings. Parking was easy, but finding the place can be a bit tricky at first - you basically have to follow the road all the way through (and over some heavy potholes) until it dead-ends. There is also a reasonably priced grocer, Simply Market, just down the road.
For the price and location this was a great place. Knowing some French is advisable as this area has a neighborhood feel, but people were patient. We highly recommend renting a car as it gives you access to a broader range of beaches and in-land activities. Check out Loterie Farm (cafe and zip lines) and Baie Longue (unbelievably picturesque) if you have a chance!
