Mountain View VT combines the luxuries of high-end hotel accommodations with the classic simplicity of a small country inn. With a grand total of only 9 rooms, you’ll feel as though the grounds are all yours. In addition to the swimming pool, gazebo and reflection pond, there are picnic tables, benches, an outdoor stone grill, a charcoal grill and wonderful places for meditation, yoga and relaxing throughout the property. The entire property gets excellent WiFi as well. A Complimentary, Farm-To-Table Breakfast is included in the price of your room and tends to exceed our guest’s expectations.
Each of the nine rooms at Mountain View is named after and inspired by a classic literary figure. This room, The Emily Dickinson, is an inspiring, light-filled space with original antique hardwood floors and peaceful powder-blue walls. It features: A Queen-Size Bed, A Beautiful Antique Oriental Rug, An Antique Wood Desk, A Recliner, Dual Bed Tables, Wonderful Natural Light and Incredible Views. The room is accented with memorabilia & photographs of Emily Dickinson . Your bathroom w/ shower is located just outside your door and only shared with one other room.
All 17 acres are yours to explore, not to mention wherever the dirt roads lead...
Guests also have full access to The Pool, The Reflection Pond, The Dining Room and The Living Room with Flat Screen TV, Library & Fire Place.
Coffee, Tea, Ice Tea & Cold Water are always available in the foyer between the kitchen and dining room.
The retreat's GM, Eberly Sharier, has lived in VT for over 15 years and is extremely approachable, good-natured and funny. She has many years of top-notch hospitality experience and is here to make your experience exceed your expectations. Steve Eisner, who manages the writer's retreat, is also around and can help answer any questions or direct you to the best restaurants and places worth seeing in the area.
The retreat is sometimes shared with a writer’s workshop called "When Words Count". So, sometimes you'll be sharing the grounds with some aspiring writers during your stay. This workshop includes a 3-course dinner for their writers. If that’s something you’re interested in, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance and we’d be happy to include you for dinner. Dinner is $30, which includes state tax.
AT&T works very well here for cell reception, Verizon does not.
Generally, we only ask you be respectful of other guests. Other than that, it's a very laid-back atmosphere.
As mentioned, our kitchen is sometimes shared with the writer's workshop. When their chef is using the kitchen, we can't allow guests to be in there at the same time, but when it's empty we do allow limited kitchen use.
Breakfast is served from 8:30-9:30am.
