A cozy home with a yard in the quiet serene neighborhood of St. Elmo, two miles south of downtown Chattanooga at the base of Lookout Mountain. All hardwood floors and big windows. A short walk to Glenn Falls and scenic overlooks of the mountain.
This little cottage is a house I now call home. It's cozy and quaint yet spacious and open. It was built in the 1930's as part of this historic neighborhood of St. Elmo right at the base of Lookout Mountain. It's peaceful, quiet, and slightly secluded with two big walnut trees and a giant magnolia tree in the yard, and sits on a 1/2 acre.
Guests are able to enjoy the entire house and yard to themselves. A bookshelf with plenty of good books is available for the guests to enjoy. There is a hammock set up in the shady quiet backyard along with a picnic table and chairs. There are multiple hula hoops for children and for adults who like to party.
I will be out of town but my landlord lives right next door. She will be available to accommodate any of the guests needs, and I am only a phone call away.
There is a twin bed in one of the bedrooms, a fold out twin sized mattress pad in the other bedroom, and a couch in the living room. This place will comfortably fit three people, but if you bring an extra mattress or sleeping pad, someone could easily fit it in the living room. Please note that because this cottage is small, there are no doors leading into the bedrooms. I prefer it this way, because it really opens up the space. Also, the bathroom is backed up to one of the bedrooms, and though there is a door from the living room to the bathroom, there is no door from the bathroom into the bedroom it is attached to. Keep this in mind while considering your comfort level with the folks you are traveling with. :)
I keep this space clean, open, clear and meditative. I have some instruments of sentimental value that I will leave for guests to enjoy while I'm gone (what's an instrument good for if it's hidden away?). I have two hand drums I have made myself from real animal hides, a native American flute, and some bongo drums. All I ask is that guests respect the space and these instruments that are dear to my heart. Pets are allowed, as long as nothing gets destroyed. If you are a dog owner please keep my hand drums made with real horse hide and deer hide on the bookshelf or out of reach. No smoking inside of the house please.
I have found such a home here in Chattanooga, a city with immersed with nature's abundance, almost every outdoor activity you can think of, good people, a sense of community, and healing.
I am a athlete, a dancer, a healer, and enjoy experiencing the world through kin-esthetic awareness. I practice massage therapy and teach Tai Ji to earn a living, and my hobbies include dancing, drumming, and rock climbing.
I have put down some roots here in Chattanooga with all of these activities I love, because Chattanooga has such a great community from the healing realm to the rock climbing realm to the belly dancing realm.
I grew up in Clarksville TN, went to school at Middle TN State University where I earned two degrees in Psychology and Nutrition, and since I have lived in Chattanooga I have rediscovered my love for movement. Movement of the chi through my own practice of massage therapy and the ancient art of Tai Ji, movement of my body through rock climbing and dancing. Now, movement of my location as I have decided to travel to Yosemite for the last two week in July and climb some mountains!
I love the space I have created in my house because there is room to MOVE in here. It's not cluttered with stuff. It's open, clean and clear. I believe our surroundings have a strong effect on our mind and body, and I keep my house free of clutter. So please enjoy a peaceful, open, spacious home!
