Petit Roque cottage is a restored 18th century stone farmhouse with wonderful views of the Dordogne River valley. The house is set on the edge of our winemaking Domaine, on a peaceful garden hilltop. Lovely countryside, only an hour from Bordeaux.
The cottage is set in a very large and private garden. The house itself dates from the 1700's with traditional stone walls and original features. The decor is rustic and comfortable; stone walls keep you cool in summer. There are two terraces, one facing the river valley, and a covered terrace facing east. We are on the top of a hill so the views of the river and river valley are beautiful.
The house is set at the edge of our vineyard property on a half acre of land. The east and west gardens offer privacy - they are set apart by hedges and shaded by mature trees.
Guests are welcome to join us at our family pool until 6 pm every day.
Our home is on the site here at our vineyard, so we can be there when you arrive to greet you with a bottle of our own wine. We are happy to help you in any way we can while always offering you the privacy you want.
You are welcome to come for a swim at our family pool until 6pm every day.
If guests require sheets and towel we can provide them at 10 euros per person and make up your beds for arrival.
From mid June through mid September we have a one week minimum stay; arrivals and departures are usually on Saturday. As of mid September, a 3 night minimum stay.
John and I have been renting the cottage to guests since 2008 and have had a wonderful time receiving guests over the years. You can read our stories on my blog: "Grapes and Old Stones" by Mary Bruton Sandifer.

In June of 2017 our family opened "La Taverne du Belvedere" on the hillside edge of the property, with a large terrace and panoramic views of the Dordogne River and Valley. Pub-style atmosphere, tapas plates from only local producers, bar a vins and artisanal beers - the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. It is run by our two sons Julien and Henri, and Julien's wife Carol. Cottage guests are offered a drink on the house upon their arrival. See (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) "Taverne Belvedere"
Since most of our guests are searching for peace, we try to maintain Petit Roque as a place of peacefulness. To accommodate guests with allergies, the interior of the cottage is non-smoking.
