I booked because of the great reviews and pictures that made this spot appealing. Although it wasn't a total nightmare, it was the worst of our 7 airbnbs during our Bali and Gili travels.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Especially the diving instructors (we don't dive but they walk around the place and met them) speak English very good and are very nice. The staff carries your bags, help you book a fast boat if you need one to Gili, take you to a good snorkeling place by scooter if you ask them, rent you a scooter for 50k for a day etc. Nice guys. Good food too! We had some dinner snacks for lunch and enjoyed them very very much!
Now for the bad parts, which unfortunately weighs heavier than the good stuff.
The room is way tinier than the pictures make it look. The beds are very uncomfortable as we could feel every spring in there. The pillow looks like it is made for children and the mosquito net on the bed doesn't fit. We had to put hairpins in it to be able to seal it. Furthermore the shower didn't drain whilst showering so we could only shower 30 seconds before flooding the bathroom. The bathroom lock was also broken which resulted in having to pry open the door each time we closed it because it would lock itself by simply closing the door.
Amed is a lovely village with lovely people which you should visit during your trip. But as long as the rooms of this airbnb are in these conditions (I assume the other rooms are no better) I would advise looking elsewhere to stay. It's a shame because this place has huge potential.
