My apartment is located on the boarder between SoHo and the Lower East Side. It's steps away from amazing restaurants, historic music venues & museums, and convenient public transportation (BDFM trains, JZ trains, NR trains, 6 train, and CitiBike).

ที่พัก

This is my own personal apartment. I am not a full-time AirBNB host. I only rent out the apartment a few times a year when I travel for work. Nearly all of my personal belongings have been left in the apartment.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!
The Bowery Mission soup kitchen is located next door. This apartment is not for everyone!

Full disclosure about this NYC apt:
- The biggest thing to note is the neighborhood. The apartment is very oddly placed within Manhattan. It's one block from some of the most expensive restaurants and exclusive spots (celebrities like Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss, & Chrissy Teigen work out at ModelFIT directly across the street). You are on the same block as New Museum NYC - and a few blocks away from high end SoHo stores like Michael Kors, Prada, and others. HOWEVER, directly next to my building is the Bowery Mission - which has been providing homeless men and women with hot meals, emergency shelter, and medical care since 1879. This may make some people uncomfortable. The homeless constantly occupy the block at all hours of the day and night. The street is so incredibly busy with public foot traffic at all times, that nothing would ever "happen" to you, but I bring this up because you will undoubtedly be asked for money during your stay and may feel uncomfortable. Also, at times, there will be individuals sitting on my front stoop. You may need to ask them to move in order to enter/exit the apartment. Nearly everyone I've ever encountered keeps to themselves and is generally friendly. Please consider if these situations would make you uncomfortable before booking this apartment.

Other notes:
-There is only one bedroom with queen sized bed. I have a queen sized air-mattress for the living room
- The apartment is on the 5th floor of an old NYC walk up (no elevator). It is likely not a good apartment for elderly individuals.
- The water pressure is pretty weak, which means you often have to flush the toilet twice.
- I saw a mouse once back in February of 2015. I never caught the little guy, but I've never seen him since. I plugged up some big holes under the sink with steel wool and that seemed to do the trick.
- There is a nightclub called KATRA located on the 1st floor of the building. From about 7pm-3am Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, you will be able to hear faint (and sometimes not so faint) music. If you are staying over the weak
-It's a very old apartment, so the floors squeak and you can hear everything your neighbors next door are saying. You can also hear the people upstairs walking around. The person directly above me wakes up around 5:30-6am on weekdays, and you may sometimes wake up to hear him walking around and getting ready for work.
- The building is relatively young (25-35 year olds). This means that every so often there are very loud parties that go late into the evening. It's not typical, but it's possible.
- The apartment gets VERY VERY hot in the winter time, so I usually keep a window cracked or use the A/C to counteract the radiators. It's great April-October though!
- My next door neighbor has sometimes plays loud movies with a subwoofer.

Note: This is my personal apartment. I am not a full-time AirBNB host. I travel frequently for work and put up my place for guests when I leave. This apartment is NOT meant for anyone who is looking for a hotel-like stay. If you can put up with the quirks listed above, then I'd love to have you stay at my apartment while I'm away! :)

We had a great stay in David’s apartment. The bed was amazingly comfortable! Note it is on the fifth floor of a walk up but it’s not a bad workout. The F train was nearby and it took us everywhere we had to go.

David's apartment is pretty quintessential New York, in both good and bad ways. THE GOOD: - The location really cannot be beat. It's close to a lot of different train lines. It's very central in Manhattan and walkable to a ton of different destinations. - There are TONS of amazing food and bar options nearby, including a historic ice cream shop and super cute brunch spot at the end of an alley right around the corner from the apartment. - The neighborhood is very idyllic, cultured, and picturesque. Lots of graffiti, art galleries, parks, and museums around. Also feels relatively safe (for the most part). - David has good taste and as such the apartment is thoughtfully designed. - The neighbors in the building kept to themselves and did not seem bothered or intruded upon by our presence (it's a small building so I'm sure very easy to spot the out of towner). - There's free laundry available on the fourth floor, which in a walkup building is almost unheard of in New York. THE BAD: - It's a fifth floor walkup, which after a long day of walking around the city (and especially with heavy suitcases) can get annoying. - Sound travels like crazy. It is located above a lounge (though is a glorified club) and the sound of the music travels up and plays well into the early morning. You can also hear a pin drop in the apartment next door, as well as anyone leaving or walking up or down the stairs, so light sleepers should take note. - Other than the living room, the rest of the apartment gets essentially zero natural light. The bedroom gets COMPLETELY dark so much so that you could easily sleep well into the morning and wake up feeling like it's 2am, which can be jarring for some, helpful for others. - On the flip side of location, it is next to a homeless shelter. We didn't run into any issues, however it is something to keep in mind for nervous or first time travelers. - Although communicative, David was managing our stay from out of town and as such there was no one available to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. In particular during our trip, we were alerted as we were checking in that the wifi was out and the overhead lights in the living room weren't working, two issues that David mentioned he would look into it once he returned( which would have been well after we left). For the wifi, it basically meant we were out of luck and had to resort to our using data on our phones (as well as a free but unreliable NYC Public Wifi) the entire time we were in the apartment. - Lastly, it was pretty obvious this is an in demand apartment that sees a ton of turnover. As such, it was lacking that personal touch you might be expecting in an Airbnb. The towels felt very used and worn,...

Nice place and location, convenient to trains, Chinatown, etc. This is a 5th floor walk-up, in case you have trouble with the stairs.

Do not rent this unit if you are elderly or disabled as it is a 5th floor walk up. You should also be aware that there is a Mission 2 doors over so there are constant "characters" milling about directly out front including a crazy guy sitting on top of the key box I had to get into to put the keys back away when checking out, so that was fun. As mentioned in the description it is quite noisy so this isn't for light sleepers. All in all if you are on a tight budget, a heavy sleeper, able bodied and don't mind rubbing elbows with people down on their luck directly out front, then this is a good option for you. Otherwise I would probably avoid it entirely.
