A colourful and cosy terraced cottage in the heart of the mountains – walk up Snowdon or jump aboard the Welsh Highland Railway from the front door. This is a place where you can leave the car and enjoy the countryside straight from the cottage door.
This is a beautiful, mid terraced cottage – its interior, the setting, the peace and tranquility.
The kitchen is homely and cosy while antique, four poster beds add a sense of elegance. The pretty, beamed sitting room has a log burning stove and breathtaking views of the river and mountains.
Its location is perfect for walkers, climbers, bird watchers and mountain biking.
From a small, oak, woodland at the top of the steep garden, it is possible to climb up to a whale back ridge that leads to the Snowdon massif. The cottage shares ownership of a communal field giving access to the river for swimming and fishing (with a license) and if you are lucky you may see the otters.
Railway enthusiasts will love watching the trains from the cottage or waving the train to a stop to pop down to the historical town of Caernarfon, or up the stunning valley past Snowdon, through the Aberglaslyn Pass and along to the coastal town of Porthmadog.
Guests with have access to the entire house during their stay. There is road side parking.
To reach the cottage from the road there is a flight of slate steps.
For guests with restricted mobility this may not be a suitable choice for a stay.
There is a key safe so guests can arrive at their own convenience after 4pm on arrival day. The key can be replaced in the safe by 10am on leaving day. There is a Welcome tray in the kitchen so they can revive after their journey. Usually Jo will call by to say hello and check guests are happy.
There is no disabled access to this property. There are several slate steps from the roadside to the front door. Indoors there is a wooden staircase to the first floor. Steps to the third floor bedroom and to the garden are steep. There are handrails. Be aware old, slate, steep steps in the garden may be slippery.
Please note, mobile phone reception is very poor. However, Wifi is available in the cottage, but being in a very rural area this may seem slow to many folk, and is sometimes intermittent.
We expect guests to leave the cottage in the same condition as they found it, especially kitchen and bathroom. Plenty of cleaning materials are provided.
Please clean the bathroom before leaving & clean the kitchen including the oven if you use it.
Please strip the beds leaving the bed linen and used towels in the bath.
Pets are very welcome. Clearing up after pets is essential.
Please take your out door shoes off at the front door.

Bryn Derwen is part of my lifestyle business, 'Eat, Dress, Design, Rest'. This is a small, family business of several parts: Eat - Kyffin Cafe Deli a beautiful cafe in Bangor serving a concise menu of world food, home made cakes, specialist teas and coffees and hand made chocolates to name but a few. We have a Supper Club on the last Friday of each month if you happen to be staying then do book! Dress: Jo Pott, Mercer Clothes - I work with a Japanese designer to produce collections of stylish clothes from hand made fabrics in Fair Trade workshops in India & Nepal. Comfort, simplicity and integrity are vital features of the work we produce. Design: Jo Pott Mercer, Interiors - For more than 25 years I have been travelling to India and Nepal buying hand made textiles, antiques, silver jewelery, hand made paper and so very much more! Working with small means of production consistently I hope to affect small change in thee lives of the people I work with. Rest - Bryn Derwen - a beautiful cottage decorated simply for people to take a rest and enjoy our distinctive landscape.
We live on a small farm which is managed for conservation. We have planted more than 10,000 trees and restored its landscape - but it is a work in progress!
