If your are looking for a beautiful traditional Japanese house with modern style, look no further. We are located in a culture rich area, with many green spaces.
A private tatami upstairs bedroom. The listing says maximum 3 people, which is possible, but we recommend 2 adults and a child. Six tatami is about 10sq/m I think.
The beds are traditional Japanese futons. They are not shown in the photos because they can be quickly put away in the special futon cupboard. This means the room can also be used for relaxing as an extra living room.
In addition to your bedroom, you can use the bathroom, toilet, laundry, dining room, kitchen, and the wonderful downstairs tatami room. This room has a fantastic "hori kotatsu" which these days is hard to find in Japanese houses or even expensive traditional Japanese hotels (Ryokan).
I am from UK and my wife is Japanese. We are happy to offer travel suggestions or assistance. Search keith waddo waddington on the net and you can find my site. It features quite a few of my Japan travel videos.
Our house provides a real taste of traditional Japanese living without the discomfort of some very old places that are often not maintained. If you are lucky, my wife may make you an authentic Japanese cuisine evening meal (1000yen pp) which will probably be the best food you eat in Japan! It will be vegetarian but probably include fish and/or seafood.
Of course, if you wish you can use the kitchen to cook for yourself.
There is wifi in the house and an iPad mini in your room which you can freely use.
Normal common sense rules apply. The only thing that smokes is the chimney, and we have no chimney. Remember, take off your shoes in the entrance. 11PM is low voice time in Japan.
I have spent equal parts of my life in England, French Canada and Japan. So you could say I am neither one thing nor the other. I like playing music, photography, bicycle camping, Mac computers and my feet like smartwool socks. I am occasionally very serious, but only for fun.
My wife is Japanese, very sweet and just a tiny bit strange. She likes yoga, vegetable gardening, cooking, and making strange things she calls "craft."
