Casual vacation getaway on a peaceful lane within short walking and biking distance to Brewster’s attractions. Enjoy the Cape in our breezy, airy, and well appointed cottage. You'll be comfortable in this cozy place, in a private, natural setting.
This cottage is a comfortable home away from home. There are 2 bedrooms, the master with a queen sized bed, and the second smaller bedroom has 2 twin beds. Overflow sleeping accommodations are available in the living space with a full sized sleeper sofa that pulls out, plus two futon mattresses line a wide window seat which can serve as sleeping space in a pinch for 2 children or a smaller adult.
The living area is open and breezy with lots of comfortable seating to lounge in. Curl up in the window seat on a drizzly day with a good book, or watch a movie in the evening after a long day at the beach. The bathroom is newly renovated and there is an additional private outdoor shower off the back of the house. In the simple, well appointed galley kitchen, you will find everything you'll need to make some great meals, including the room to have your kitchen partner to work side-by-side with you.
Outside you can enjoy a large wraparound deck, feel free to use the charcoal grill and dine al fresco. The yard is private and landscaped with lovely perennial gardens, and and full of birds, bunnies and butterflies.
You will have the house all to yourself; you are welcome to use whatever amenities you find; wifi is throughout the house, there is a stereo with radio, or aux-in cable for your own music. Help yourself to the board games, drawing supplies, and books. There is a washer/dryer setup in the utility room, plus an ample clothesline in the back yard to dry those beach towels in a fresh breeze.
We won't be around when you stay. We live off-Cape in central Massachusetts, but you'll have our number if you need to reach us with any questions or problems.
Linen service is provided for the beds in the two bedrooms (1 Queen, 2 Twin). Towels are also included for 4 individuals (but not beach towels -- bring your own). Blankets and pillows are plentiful.
PARKING. Just pull in on the grass. An old cedar log marks the endpoint of the parking area. Anywhere between there and the street can be used for parking. For multiple cars, you should be able to squeeze in side-by-side.
BEACH. The Brewster beaches all face Cape Cod Bay, and are known for their extensive tidal flats that become exposed at low tide, great for walks. The nearest public beaches are Paines Creek, Saints Landing, and Mants Landing. They are all about a 15-minute walk, or 5-minute bike ride. The best swimming in the Bay is between the times 2 hours before and 2 hours after high tide, so check your daily tide charts. If taking the car and parking at one of the Brewster town beach lots, you will need a paid parking sticker, available at Town Hall. (Bring a hard-copy of this sheet, your Airbnb confirmation, and car registration.)
TRASH/RECYCLING SERVICE. Roadside trash and recyclables collection is handled by Nauset Disposal ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)). Please set the trash container to the street on Monday evening for the early Tuesday morning pickup. Set the recyclables container to the street on Wednesday evening for the early Thursday morning pickup.
LAWN SERVICE. Warren S. is the man who does the grass cutting once every 10-14 days, usually on a Thursday or Friday; so you may see him once for that during your stay. The job takes about an hour.
TV/INTERNET. Comcast provides cable TV and Internet service. The wireless router is named “Spring45WRT54G” – it is open Wi-Fi, with no password needed. You can bring your own streaming device; there is HDMI and Ethernet wiring available on the TV stand.
SAFETY. Please watch your step on the cottage’s deck. Take note of the step down as you turn the corner of the house to get to the back section. Please use the grill at least ten (10) feet away from the propane tank. Use caution when walking the edges of the property – poison ivy, thorny plants, and ticks are potential hazards.
LINENS/TOWELS. Fresh bedsheets, bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths are dropped off by the rental service “The Furies”, by 5PM on your arrival day. On your departure day, please bag these back into the provided bag/tote and leave out on the front deck by 9AM, no laundering necessary of course. Please bring your own beach towels. There may be some homeowner towels around if needed in a pinch; please launder any of those that you use.
LAUNDRY. If dish towels or tablecloths get soiled, we ask the favor of running them through the washer/dryer. Thank you.
SMOKING. Please restrict smoking to the outdoors.
HOUSECLEANING. You will be arriving to a freshly-cleaned house. Let us know right away if this is not so. On your departure day, the cleaning crew is scheduled to arrive right around the checkout time of 11AM.
FOOD. Please dispose of your food leftovers or take them home with you at the end of your stay. Anything vegetable in nature can be disposed in the compost bin in the side yard. Please do not dispose meat, animal fat, or dairy in the bin.
