Listen to the creek and the frogs at night, cook over the fire, walk around the farm and see pigs, donkeys, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, geese, ducks and more. The bus is a 5-10 minute creekside walk to all that Saxapahaw has to offer - world class music venue, microbrews, farm to table restaurants, and the Haw River!
You'll be staying on a bus in a meadow at Cane Creek Farm - home of many happy, sustainably and humanely raised farm animals. The bus has a double size bed, a single bed, a comfortable couch and a small dining table. There is no running water on the bus but there is access to water nearby. There are tools for cooking and a grill on the fire pit but no stove/refrigerator/kitchen.
There is a 200 yard walk or so to the bus from the parking area. Guests can walk the old farm roads that surround the 37-acre property. There is a beautiful, 5-10 minute creekside walk to town.
We are working fulltime - on the farm and at another day job. It's safest to assume we are unavailable, but it depends on the day/week/time of year. We do love guests!
The bus and yurt are a 200 yard walk from the parking area. Please do not drive directly to either.
There is no lock. If you are concerned, please lock valuables in your car.
Please remove shoes at the door.
Please wash your own dishes.
Please drive slowly on roads and check under your car for birds before leaving the parking area.
If the red front gate is closed, please close it behind you. There is a chain but it’s never locked.
ANIMALS: Please do not enter any animal pens and assume that all fences are electrified.
We have three dogs that guard the property and protect the animals. You may see them. They bark at first but are very friendly. There is also a black cat that sometimes comes down to visit our guests. Her name is Onyx. If any of our animals bother you, please let us know! Because other pets mess up the balance at our farm, we do not allow them and make no exceptions.
WEATHER: Heat – we provide fans. The spaces are hottest inside around 2-5pm and cool down significantly at night. Open all windows and plan to spend the hottest part of the day outside in the shade and by the creek. Cold – the purple bus and yurt have electric blankets. Please do not leave them plugged in. There is a quilt for each bed but if it will be very cold, we recommend warm clothes and bringing extra blankets or sleeping bag. Rain – paths can get slippery in the rain. Be careful!
BUGS: You will likely see a bug or two of some sort. The space should be tidy and swept but some bugs are unavoidable. NC is currently dealing with an overrun of stink bugs (mostly during late summer). They are the size of your thumb nail and look like they have a shield on their back. They are harmless but come out in the heat. They only smell (like cilantro) when disturbed. There should not be any wasp nests on the bus, but sometimes in the heat of the day, they fly in the windows. We’ve provided wasp spray. Sometimes mud daubers fly in (black and look like a wasp). They do not sting. You may see a spider. If you have a problem with any bugs, let us know and we can deal with them for you.
FIREWOOD: We try to keep some in the dry box near the fire pits, but encourage you to gather your own as well. We do not keep paper and lighters on hand, but often other renters leave them behind. If you gather your own wood, please use the hand saw provided and do not burn outside of the fire pit. Please put out fires before leaving and before bed. For provisions, check out the General Store in Saxapahaw.
Privacy: The yurt and bus are in the same meadow but have their own fire pit and outdoor table.
No pets allowed; assume all fences are hot; do not go in animal pens; do not drive fast down the gravel roads.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.

My family and I (2 women, 2 teenagers and a baby) own Cane Creek Farm and we have a number of Airbnb options on our property: a yurt, 2 buses, camping shelter, and multiple camping platforms. We have 37 beautiful acres in the heart of Saxapahaw and we're running a working farm with happy and healthy, pastured and woods -raised animals. Eliza is my partner and runs the farm. We are a short (5-7 minute) creek-side walk into town and the farm has numerous walking trails and scenic spots to rest, reflect and relax. We hope you'll come out and enjoy this place that we love so much!
