The Eco Cabin is at the base of Roman Nose home of the 1969 Sundance fire. There are 3 lakes at the peak which is 6 miles of hard road up Ruby Creek. Across the way is Ruby Ridge home local Randy Weaver and the stand-off with law enforcement. Enjoy!

The Eco cabin is off the grid. Solar panels feed the few light fixtures that illuminate the cabin. It is located just off a county road that is plowed in the winter. The cook stove is Propane gas as is the Hot water heater. Heat is provided by fire place and wood cook stove. It is very Private. Located near a well maintained county road (gravel) one mile from pavement. The water is supplied via a local water system. It sits on 9 acres just below Roman Nose mountain. 2 miles from Ruby Ridge and 3 miles from Ruby Creek, My daughter is also named Ruby. The operating principal behind the Eco cabin is to be low impact and reduced carbon foot print. Plenty of wild life and mountain hikes. The Northwoods Tavern in Naples is a great place to meet the locals. Sandpoint is a 20 minute drive south. The major ski resort Schweitzer Mountain Resort is 40 minute drive. There is a queen sized bed in the upstairs and a double down stairs. Out door fire pit and plenty of near by places to explore. It makes a great hunting base camp.

Curtis was a very good communicator and checked in with us via phone after we arrived. When he needed to stop by the Cabin, he let us know in advance and was very friendly. The only thing I do not recommend is arriving to the cabin after dark. We had difficulty seeing due to limited electricity. The electricity also needed to be recharged during our stay and Curtis was kind enough to give the electricity a charge when notified. Another thing to note about this stay, is that there is no cell service. For me, I enjoyed not having my phone, but not everyone enjoys having no cell reception or access to WiFi. I recommend Curtis as a host because he is responsive, accountable, and very friendly. Thanks Curtis! :)

The area around this cabin is absolutely gorgeous and we loved the hammock and fire pit out front. The cabin is cute and rustic. Please note: you must bring in drinking water!!!! There is no drinkable water available at this cabin. During our stay, the refrigerator didn't work and the electricity was VERY limited after dark....we were not able to use lights to get our belongings unpacked when arriving after dark. We always carry headlamps with us so we were able to get somewhat settled.

This cabin is a great experience out in rural Idaho. Secluded, peaceful, and a great way to disconnect. But just be prepared, and you will have a great experience. Pros: -remote -Pretty area -perfect size for 2-4 people -great fire pit -30 minute drive to Sandpoint for groceries and to reconnect to society -Curtis was easy to get a hold of. Cons: -NO POTABLE WATER, brings gallons -We didn't have any hot water the whole time -in the evening, the water pressure was so low it was impossible to shower with. We solved it by filling up empty water gallons of cold water and pouring it on ourselves at night. -no phone service (which is nice) but it was difficult to find areas to hike and explore. We didn't find any maps in the cabin the were of any use. -the fridge wasn't working at first but we were able to sort it out after a day or so. A cooler came in handy the first day and night.

Curtis' Eco-cabin is simple, relaxing and quiet! I highly suggest this place for anybody who needs an escape. Curtis' communication was efficient and I had no issues or surprises. We took our two dogs and they loved running around. We all had very good sleeps because it was so dark and could hear the crickets and frogs. The fireflies were even dancing around in the bedroom window. If you need to relax book the Eco-cabin NOW!

I'm a construction coordinator for film and TV. I have 2 teenagers and a out door dog. We move between Ca and Idaho. I build things for a living and like to keep a very clean house. I also have a cabin in Idaho which can be checked out at Codwadders Eco Cabin. I like moving between urban and rural off grid living. I have a beautiful art collection and am very involved in the arts. I'm also a film maker and have traveled the world though still have many places on my list. I like the idea of sharing my home with fellow travelers and believe in good karma.
