This old hotel offers a stay like no other! Built in the early 1920’s by Abner Weed, and originally called “The Weed Hotel,” Hotel Dunsmuir burned to the ground and was rebuilt in the 1940’s in traditional 40’s Art Deco Style. The post fire renovations were built around the building’s original brick skeleton. With the re-opening of the hotel in 1947 it again became known as “Dunsmuir’s finest”.
Once the largest city north of Sacramento, travelers visited Dunsmuir for its lively culture, pure healing water, and incredible natural beauty. Hotel Dunsmuir offered the most extravagant accommodations available in town and was once frequented by wealthy travelers and movie stars.
After almost 100 years, the building is in the process of being revived yet again. The rooms available are uniquely themed and feature a full kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. Relax, explore the town’s rich history, soak up the incredible natural beauty and pure glacial drinking water, and support our efforts to restore The Hotel Dunsmuir.

Mark Juarez is many things: entrepreneur, world traveler, CEO, inventor, designer, published writer, teacher, certified masseuse and motivational speaker. He is well known for his ability to successfully innovate products with ‘character.’ Juarez is also living proof of two concepts: that it is possible to achieve the ultimate balance between profitable business management and social responsibility. The second, that there is no such thing as an impossible dream.
In 1992 Mark Juarez established The Happy Company. He started the company with his personal savings of $22,000 and within three years the company was earning $20 million and garnering the number five slot on the "Top Ten Companies" list for Northern California, as well as number two position on the "Top Ten Fastest Growing Companies" list in the Bay Area in 1996. Happy Massager, his flagship product, was the world's best-selling massage tool – transforming the massage tool industry.
Through The Happy Company, Juarez has invented and managed the development cycle of more hundreds of products, as well as being awarded over a hundred national & international patents, trademarks, and copyrights. His initial inspiration in creating products was to introduce what he calls "the caring touch" to the world and that touch extended him into the non-profit sector.
On top of that busy schedule, Juarez is a regular guest teacher at prestigious universities such as Stanford, USC, Loyola Marymount and San Francisco State University. He is also an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker to businesses and non-profit associations worldwide. Juarez and his products have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, Small Business Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Atlanta Journal, and up to two hundred other print, TV, and radio outlets to count.
Juarez has published “Charlie’s THINKING CHEESE” to inspire community projects, healthier living styles, and cross-generational dialogues. Concurrent with his faith in humanity and the belief that EVERYTHING in life is an opportunity, Juarez is creating a health retreat and community focused on personal growth and achieving extraordinary health in the Mt Shasta area in Northern California.
Additionally, over the last 5 years, Juarez has been designing an innovative environmentally conscious way to build houses that is cheaper, faster and is more attractive. His method is safer than conventional houses in fire & earthquakes and will last longer, requiring less maintenance.
Juarez overcame dyslexia and a disadvantaged upbringing with a strong belief that work is LOVE made visible and INTEGRITY before profits, ethics which he incorporates in his company and everyday living. Through his travels, he experienced firsthand the power of the pursuit of a dream that benefits others and the value of sincere gratitude. This became his greatest motivation to continually create and sustain a healthy and happy work environment in which all can work collaboratively together to succeed and thrive.
