It is ideal for anybody looking to be near hospitals or universities, or simply wanting a quiet neighbourhood close to downtown.

We speak French, English and some Spanish. As we live on the premises, you can always call us or knock on our door for help, be it an extra kitchen item you'd like, or ideas for restaurants, sightseeing or activities. Our goal is to make sure you feel at home while you're staying with us so if you are missing something, just let us know and we'll do our very best to accommodate.

It's important to understand that the apartment is located in a family friendly home, with a 12-year old and two dogs: a 15-year old dog who sleeps most of the time, and an 8-year old who can get excited by the doorbell or when our daughter comes home after being gone a few hours. We went to great length to insulate the apartment from upstairs, including installing z-channels and Roxul. However, unless a home is built like a sound studio or an apartment building with concrete wall/floors, some sounds will inevitably carry. That's just reality when living in a house. While we do our best to keep the noise level to a minimum, some individuals are more sensitive to sounds and might prefer renting an entire house, or an apartment in a high rise.

If you are a smoker, be aware that we don't allow smoking anywhere on the property. Both our fathers died of lung disease and we also have a child who is sensitive to smoking. That's why we ask you to respect our wishes not to smoke on or near our property. If you have smoked in the unit or on the terrace, you will forfeit your damage deposit. If you must have a cigarette, you can take a leisurely walk around the block, or go for a stroll on the beautiful walk path by the river one minute away.

This property isn't appropriate for parties. Ours is a quiet neighbourhood, and I endeavour to accept guests who appreciate this.

In the neighbourhood you might come across herons, swans, birds of all sorts, and maybe even frogs, beavers and raccoons. On that note, we ask that ALL food be disposed of in the green bin (i .e. not in the garbage) to prevent animals from messing with the garbage. I supply composting countertop bags to collect food solids and liquids. These kitchen countertop bags can be loosely folded to prevent odours from developing. After a few days, or when full, just throw away the used brown bag in the green bin. The green bin has a special closure that discourages animals from foraging.

I'm happy to deal all the recycling you leave next to the garbage. If you are an avid recycler and prefer to sort it yourself, note the following:
Black box: for clean paper and cardboard (oily pizza boxes go into the green bin)
Blue box: plastic containers, metal, glass
Green bin: use the countertop composting bags for all food and paper/cardboard with oil and foodstuff
Garbage: plastic bags (unfortunately those aren't recycled in Ottawa), coffee pods (because they contain plastic they can't be placed in the green bin) and various items that aren't accepted in recycling.

If in doubt, just ask, or leave the composting bag and any recycling aside for me look after.

Francine's place was great for our week long stay in Ottawa! Perfect location for walking into the city and the Glebe and only a short distance from supermarkets and restaurants. We were initially a little concerned about one of the reviews stating noise levels but our daily pattern fell in line with that of Francine's and her family. We seemed to wake and go to sleep roughly the same time so noise was never really an issue! The dog barked occasionally at the door which Francine mentions but it was no more or less than our dog at home. If your looking for a comfortable and quiet stay that's outside the city this is the place for you!

Francine's place was AMAZING. I am a first time Airbnb user and a University student who stayed at her place while waiting for my lease to start at an apartment and this was the perfect gig. She was very accommodating and her place is clean, beautifully decorated, and has every amenity I needed and more! Also location is perfect, super close to Lansdowne (coffee, beer, gyms, etc) HIGHLY recommend!

A fantastic location in Ottawa! This was our first stay and Francine was a wonderful host. Full of suggestions and ideas, with detailed maps and info of where to go and what to see. Ample parking outside and a 30 second stroll from the water. Her place is fantastic, spacious, clean and in a great neighbourhood. You are 10 mins by car from ByWards (A 10 dollar Uber) or about a 30 min walk on the canal from the locks. I'd recommend you rent some bikes (20 mins walk to nearest bike rental shop) and enjoy the city that way. You really can't beat this location or host!

We had a great stay! Francine met us and showed us around. The mini apt was just as expected and was just as it showed in the photos. Clean, bright, modern and comfortable for our stay. We loved the location in a nice neighbourhood. We liked that we could walk around and walk to restaurants etc. The location was well situated close to Carleton university where our daughter is and a close drive to downtown/ Parliament/ Byward market area. Although we didn't use the kitchen- it had everything you would need for a longer stay or for meal preparation- well equipped and new kitchen items. A Very nice modern bathroom too. The bed was comfortable with the topper although we had a little trouble with a nagging squeak one night. A tv was mounted above the bed and we were happy to be able to access Netflix after a busy couple of days. There was also a comfy couch which was also a pullout ( although we need to use it). A nice little sitting area outside that we also didn't have a chance to use. Wifi was available and Francine answered any questions we had. We would definitely return and recommend this to others.

Lovely location in the heart of old Ottawa South. Room was great with lovely walk out to enjoy a morning coffee. Too bad that the weather did not allow for this when we visited.

Our short stay at Francine's house was amazing. It's clean, cozy, and well equipped. A big recommendation for couples and families to check in here.
