Comfortable apartment, with a seaview.
We had a lovely time at Ana’s apartment. I was so thankful for the air conditioning when we arrived after being in the hot sun for hours. The apartment is a lot nicer than in the photos by the way, and having a balcony with a beautiful view of the sea is totally worth it. I fell in love with Podstrana! There are a lot more places to eat than I thought, and getting from Split to Podstrana by bus was easy. Every night we walked along the beach and found new places to go for dinner. We thought we would cook at the apartment most of the time, but we ended up eating out a lot. The beach is beautiful, clean, and not too crowded
With the description and the pictures Ana sent me before, it was easy to find. First with a transfer bus from the airport to split center and then with the bus no 60 a few stations direction Omiš to the bus stop where’s an orange sign „uljara“ and then like five minutes by foot. The bus stations have no names so you have to pay attention the first 2-3 times. The apartment was cute, clean and we had everything we needed, pans, dishes, glasses. The balcony with sea view was just amazing! For the food/beverage it had a shop just at the bus station that is open like 7-22 every day, if you walk a bit further in the direction to Omiš there's a bakery and a chic restaurant called Amigos just at the sea. The beach was also pretty near. Marina who looked after the apartments and made check-in / check-out / laundry was really really helpful and friendly, gave us some tips and was always there (she lives in the same house) except when she’s going to the beach for a few hours that is really close ;-) The neighbours dog was a bit annoying because he was barking whenever someone passed the way and you should plan enough time to get to split by bus / car. We missed our ferries to Hvar and Brač (worth seeing!) on two days because there was so much traffic and the bus needed like 1,5 hours instead of around 20 minutes from the apartment to split center, one without air conditioning while it was like 36 degrees outside. When we weren’t in a hurry, the traffic was ok of course… ;-) We were also jetskiing, visiting Marjan Park and some beaches between Podstrana and Split. Altogether it was a nice apartment, uncomplicated hosting, interesting city and I can definitely recommend this! Thank you a lot, greetings!
We had a great stay, the room is quite basic but it had everything we needed for a weeks holiday that allowed us to have a comfortable stay. We found the house easily (Ana gave us pretty good directions and it is easy to locate via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps). The bed was ok (not the most comfortable but we have both had worse), the kitchen was good and had all the necessities, good basic bathroom. The balcony was great with an amazing view overlooking the sea and Split! The balcony definitely made up for the lack of 'extras' or anything special about the room itself. The bus into Split was great and easy to locate, I was worried about being out of Split but it is a relatively quick bus journey and we went out for dinner and day trips easily. Podstrana is lovely - the beach was beautiful and not too busy and the restaurants were good. Marina was very helpful and kind, and let us keep our bags in her house when we checked out as we had a late flight which allowed us to go to the beach during the day, which was really nice of her and very much appreciated by us. The only negatives were the neighbour's dog who was a little bit annoying, and it would've been nice to have been supplied with a map of Podstrana or some additional information about the area and things to do on arrival as we came quite unprepared - i.e good restaurants to visit. Overall we had a great stay, and I would recommend staying at Ana's place, especially if you would prefer a quieter stay out of Split in a place that is simple and private in a good area. The balcony alone is worth the price, with a 180 degree view of the Adriatic and a table where you can eat dinner while you watch the sunset over Split. The apartment was very clean and modern feeling. Plumbing and AC were excellent. Pretty good wifi. The apartment is several hundred meters from the water up a steep hill, which is actually a good thing because it makes the view even better. There is a beautiful beach a few hundred meters away. Several small grocery stores, bakeries, and fruit stands are an easy walk away. The beach is lined with bars and restaurants.
We arrived Split by bus from airport at around one in the afternoon and got a nice sms from Ana with a good description on how to get to the apartment. Since we were tired after the early flight we chose to take a taxi instead of bus number 60. The cost of the taxi was 140 kuna, the taxi driver was very nice and spoke good English so we arrived safely to the apartment where Ana met us with a smile. The apartment was very nice and had a beautiful panorama view of the ocean. A very good air condition which we used a lot since it was up to 38 degrees some days. I also really liked that you could close the door to the balcony and make it silent and dark in the room. Only three minutes walk to beach, just down the short hill from apartment, crossing the road and there it was. Very nice and cosy beach with few people and some nice bars and restaurants. I recommend to use bathing shoes because of the stones. The bus stop for going to Split is very close, it leaves twice an hour and is cheap. Takes 20 min if no rush hour. Split is a very nice city but one day we went to the big beach in Split and I must say I am glad we stayed in Podstrana since I do not like big beaches with lots of people :) We have been to a few restaurants in Split and our favourites are Pizzeria Galija where you get big tasty portions and very nice cheap white wine and Konoba Matejuska where we had some lovely grilled fish. Close to the apartment is also a grocery store and a nice bakery where they sell very good cakes, bread, and some bread with sausage inside, yummy! Ana was not there very much but when she was, she was very nice to us. She even helped us printing some papers. I like privacy when I go on holiday, and that is what you get in this apartment. You live on your own but in safe surroundings. Podstrana and Split is a lovely place to relax and have a nice time! I highly recommend it! :D
