We had a lovely 5-night stay at La Vigneronne. The apartment is the perfect size for two, the small kitchen is incredibly well equipped (two burner stove, electric kettle, excellent vegetable peeler, etc.), and the air-conditioning was a fantastic bonus! Corinne was a wonderful host – she was very flexible with our arrival (we encountered quite a bit of traffic on our drive there and so got in several hours later than expected), and provided a lot of helpful information about the town. She even called several restaurants for us once we arrived to see if they were open and still serving dinner. She also left us some tomatoes from her mother’s garden and a lovely chilled bottle of local wine, which was a very thoughtful gesture.
A practical note that might be of use to other guests is that, since it is a top-floor apartment, the ceiling is slanted and rather low in some parts. My husband, who is 6 ft tall, managed to just clear the beam that runs through the bedroom/kitchen area, but it might prove a bit more challenging for taller folks. Another useful tip is that to lock the front door (from the inside or out), you need to lift up the handle while turning the key. We had a bit of trouble figuring this out the first time we left, which was quite amusing (especially once we realized there was such a simple solution!).
We didn’t actually spend much time in Beaucaire itself, except for dinner on a few evenings. The location of the apartment makes it an ideal jumping off point for visiting many of the areas and sites around. And we truly had a wonderful time exploring. We would highly recommend this apartment to others!
