Hi and welcome to Trullo Mena, a work in progress and imbued with much love.
You share the home with Italian-Australian owner, Mena, who speaks English and Italian (fair). She is passionate about many things, ranging from cooking to taking in the occasional abandoned four-legged friend and is best described as wearing different hats - Entrepreneur, wellness coach and writer.
The long driveway leads you past the olive and almond trees to the front double doors with curtains that waft and wave with the breeze. True to the original 200 year-old trullo architecture, you enter into the dining area with wooden beams above which is a loft which years ago stored many a prosciutto!) The dining table seats six people but summer beckons breakfast alfresco.
The bathroom is shared but privacy is yours. It has an enclosed shower, toilet, bidet and hand basin. It also houses an automatic front loader washing machine. A new, fixed clothes line is outdoors. A nominal contribution of €3.50 per load of washing applies, to help purchase water for the internal, below ground pozzo (well) typically powered by an electric generator.
Your room has two single beds placed together to form a queen sized bed or can be separated. A fold-up bed is available for a third guest if required. Beds are positioned under the inside of the cone giving you a cocooned, cloistered feel!
Reverse cycle air conditioning in each bedroom though it is used rarely because a trullo stays cool in summer and once warmed, retains heat in cooler months.
There is plenty of opportunity for long walks, allowing you to take in the fairy-tale atmosphere of this beautiful trullo countryside. The Valle D'Itria includes Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica and Alberobello.
I look forward to meeting you!

I am bilingual in English and Italian, born in Italy and migrated to Australia as a young child. Now divide my time between Italy and Australia. I wear different hats including that of Personal and Corporate Coach and facilitating Thinking into Results Program; writer (currently publishing an illustrated children's book for older readers) and clinical hypnotherapist.
I love to cook, especially for friends and family and have even made Nocino using walnuts from my land in Martina F. Locals say it's perfect.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
