This place was awesome! My family stayed there for my son's wedding instead of staying at a hotel. It was the best decision I've ever made. We slept 8 people comfortably and it was like being at home. The home was very clean and comfortable. It was just perfect! I would strongly recommend Pamela's place to anyone looking a great place for a family to stay vs. multiple hotel rooms. Again, it was AWESOME!!! Hilton

It's awesome. The public transportation is very convenient. Inside the house, it is very comfortable. It's great especially for family traveling together.

Nice place. Great location. Fairly clean. Split level was a little difficult for aging guests. Beds were nice. Upstairs was a little warm in the summer but ceiling fans helped a lot.

Renters beware! This is a nice place, conveniently located to a bus stop that will take you about 20 minutes to downtown and 40 minutes to Lincoln Zoo. The kitchen is also nice and large enough to cook big meals for a big family. We booked this place for a family reunion with my sister, her kids, my mom and my family. We were a total of 9 and there was plenty of space for all of us. This is where the good ends. As soon as we got there, we encountered broken thresholds to a bedroom and bathroom and a towel holder that fell as soon as we put a towel on it. None of these are a big deal except that Kristi, the assistant, immediately made me feel like somehow we had caused these problems. It gets worse. One big reason we rented this place was for the ability to do laundry. I got an error code on the washing machine as soon as I went to do a wash. Kristi told me that she gets "another error code" and to "just unplug and plug the washing machine, and set the cycle to spin" and "to only use the short wash cycle". Yet, Pamela, the owner, said, "no other guest has ever had problems" even though I have texts from Kristi that she has had similar problems. Needless to say we weren't able to do laundry while we were there and there was no information on the listing that the washing machine was unreliable, one big consideration for renting this place for more than $600/night! Pamela did reimburse us for the inconvenience of doing laundry at an offsite facility. Then the grand finale is my 135 lb. nephew went to sit on a dining room chair and as soon as he scooted forward, he fell to the ground because one of the legs broke off. After I let Kristi know, I received a bill for $200 from Pam through Airbnb while we were still staying there! Afterwards, we inspected the rest of the chairs and found another chair with a loose leg and told Kristi and Pam, even though they claimed to me that they do a maintenance check after everyone leaves. Based on all the issues we found, I highly doubt that. Also, we had no control of the thermostat (Kristi had it via her phone) and there was a camera in the basement, both things that should have been disclosed on the listing. The stress and unhappiness I felt staying there totally put a big damper on my vacation. Was it really worth $200 for Kristie and Pam to treat us this way? If you rent this place, make sure you check everything during the check-in process!

We are both surprised, and disgusted, by Melania's treatment of our home. We won't dignify the ignorance of this review, with an equally bad review for her but we will say advise that other Host's BEWARE! Our reviews speak for themselves. We find it ironic that of all of the 5 star reviews that we've accumulated, not one of them mentions broken or unusable items in our home. We find it strange that in 2 years of NEVER having an issue with a guest, that Melania somehow found nothing but negative things to say about our home. We will thank Melania for her disruptive and destructive presence in our home as she has given us a hard learned lesson on what to look out for when booking future guests. Melania is absolutely the worst and least gracious guest to stay in our home and would likely be better off in a hotel. Our rate is $400 per night, but she claims to have been charged $600 per night, which is the most obvious of her multiple lies. She and her family clearly have no respect or care for other people's homes and belongings and therefore do NOT fit the peaceful home sharing environment of the Airbnb model. Rent to Melania at your own risk, but be prepared for a wrecking crew who will destroy your things and not take responsibility for doing so. Good Riddance...

My family and I had an excellent experience staying at Oasis Retreat. The townhouse was exactly what we needed- it was clean, had everything we needed for our stay, and had plenty of room for the six of us. Pamela and her associate Kristie were great- the reservation process was easy, and check in and check out went extremely smoothly. I'd highly recommend this property for families or groups traveling to Chicago.

What a great place to stay! We were travelling on business to attend a conference at the McCormick and the location is ideal. The house is immaculate with everything you need and the communication and welcoming from Pam and Kristie is perfect. Chicago is a wonderful city and with this as a base it made our stay successful and very enjoyable.

I'm truly a citizen of the world! To me nothing rings truer than the old expression, "home is where the heart is." No matter where we've been during a hectic day of work or travel, and no matter what the day brings, coming home should be very special, and give you a sense of entering your sanctuary. Because home is so important to us all, I take pride in knowing that the homes that we occupy are filled with love, warmth, and happiness. Sharing our homes with friends and family brings us joy, and hopefully gives others joy in the process. My Motto: "You today and me tomorrow" sums up the feeling of making guests feel welcome and at home in our homes.
I travel the world for a living, and have an equal measure of love and respect for beautiful homes, architecture and design. I tend to make myself at home where ever my travels lead me.
We share homes in gratitude to those who have generously and most graciously shared their homes with us along the road in our travels. I am a true Chicago native, but have also made Brooklyn and all of New York City home. In sharing our homes, we hope that you'll find your own love for the Amazing Cities that we call home as well. Happy Travels!
