Our Lake House is ideal for a peaceful retreat or special time with family and friends after a day of outdoor fun. Our guests include honeymooners as well as runners, bikers and swimmers who come to train in the altitude or participate in the many competitive events near by. We have many repeat guests who come annually.

The ceilings are 25' high, soaring with light from every window. Skylights on the second floor flood the bedrooms and loft with natural light, creating an architectural design feature called 'borrowed light.'

Three private bedrooms accommodate six: Master = CalKing, Creekside = Queen, Lakeside = Queen. Additionally, the loft has two twin futons that serve as comfortable beds for two more (for a total of 8 in the house).

The beautiful, reclaimed hardwood flooring and slate flooring are heated by a system of copper piping, a mile long beneath the floors, that offers comfort and cleanliness, no drying forced air heat. The floor to ceiling stone fireplace makes for cozy evenings in the Great Room. From early morning watch Donner Lake change throughout the day while relaxing and lingering on the porch in comfortable deck chairs. Take in sunset and the night sky from the pier just steps away. The practical kitchen is well equipped and offers stainless steel appliances, five burner stove, granite counter tops, microwave, toaster and coffee make. There is an outdoor BBQ also.

Studio with private bathroom available for rent if additional space is needed (sleeps 2). The bed is a full size. Available to tenants renting Main House only and for the same days as the Main House. Pricing upon request. Both units are comfortably furnished with clean lined, quality pieces.

Gorgeous lake house

Wonderful property across the street from the lake. Amazing views of snow-capped peaks reflecting in the water. Everything is supplied and this was perfect for our small family for a long weekend. Loved the heated floors and the deep whirlpool tub. Proximity to Sugarbowl makes the skiing super easy. Would rent again anytime!

A Definite Repeat Retreat!

This vacation home is bright, clean, and almost as breathtaking inside as the lake is outside. Uniquely positioned on a hillside with a creek bubbling nearby, my family would have been happy relaxing and playing games in the house all weekend. But, Donner Lake beckons from daybreak through the picturesque front windows. Several steps out the front door and you are at the waters edge. We kayaked, canoed, paddle boarded and enjoyed our time on the piers. The owner is all about customer satisfaction: timely response, personable, attention to detail, and good follow through. Overall, a pleasure to work with. Next time we'll plan for at least a week!

Gorgeous and serene donner lake home

We have stayed in many (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) properties and this was by far the best! The modern timber frame architecture of the home allows beautiful light by day and breathtaking views of the stars by night. Watching the pines appear and disappear like ghosts through the morning mist on the lake was spectacular. The interior finishes are lovely, the layout thoughtful and everything is clean and tidy. Our deposit check was returned in record speed. We were home for just two days when the kids began to ask when we would go back to "our Tahoe house." This is a great location for skiing with three top resorts within 10- 20 minutes of the property. We hope to return in summer to take in the lake and hiking.

Such a beautifully stunning home. We didn't want to leave. The home is perfectly placed by the lake and close to everything. The interior is beautifully designed and very comforting and inviting. The kitchen is fully stocked with every utensil, pot, pan, you could ever need and it was all high quality. Being a first time home renter I am now spoiled. Every detail was easily laid out. The owner is very gracious and made us feel at home. We will definitely return.

Vacation rental provides a garage (for two compact or one standard sized car) and a covered carport for a compact sized car. When there is no snow there is an additional parking space on the road across from the garage entrance. Snow plowing in the winter is included.

To rent our home we ask that you accept a rental agreement. Your written statement accepting the rental agreement's terms and conditions on our Airbnb thread is binding. If you choose not to accept the rental agreement then Airbnb allows you to cancel your reservation. However, Airbnb will keep their fee. I am glad to answer any questions that you have about our home and surrounding area prior to making your reservation.

Note that the nightly rate includes the Truckee mandated 12% Occupancy and Tourism Tax. Airbnb does not provide an additional line item for fees, other than the cleaning fee, in the pricing structure that you see, so the tax is included in the nightly rate. (Town of Truckee Registration Cert. No is 372)

When requesting your reservation include the number of children. Please provide their ages.

Also, please be aware that the cleaning service sets its fee. If there are more than 6 guests the cleaning service charges a small additional fee, approximately $45.

To keep the cleaning fee to the minimum as set by the cleaning service, please follow the departure instructions. I am glad to send the instructions to you in advance. For convenience the departure instructions are in the House Manual in the kitchen and posted on the laundry room wall.

House rules are clearly written out in the rental agreement (below) and are binding upon payment. For non instant book inquiries, I will send you a customized rental agreement for your review and approval.

All reservations are conditional upon scheduling the cleaning service.

Please confirm total number of guests including children of all ages.

Please pack your slippers and enjoy the house in slippers or stocking feet. Remove shoes and snow boots inside the house. (The wood floors were recently refinished.) No charcoal grills. In winter, please, remove chains/cables from car tires before parking in garage.

Please follow the Departure Instructions to not incur additional cleaning costs. There is an additional $40 cleaning fee for more than six guests (max. 8 guests) in the main house. It will be charged separately and in addition to the way Airbnb sets up the initial booking. Departure Instructions gladly sent upon request prior to renter's arrival.

Rental Agreement:
USE: Premises to be occupied by no more than our agreed upon number
of guests, not to exceed 8.

ANIMALS: No animals of any kind are allowed.

HOUSE RULES: Tenant and all guests agree to abide by all house rules, including: no smoking, no animals, no charcoal grills and following departure procedures. NO SMOKING of any kind inside residence or on premises. No parties, receptions or events. Tenant is responsible for all guests.

ASSIGNMENTS AND SUBLETTING: Tenant will not assign this agreement or sublet any portion of the premises without prior written consent of the owner.

MAINTENANCE AND DAMAGE: Tenant acknowledges that unless the owner is notified immediately upon occupancy, the premises, including all furniture, furnishings, appliances, are in good working order. Tenant will keep the premises in a clean and sanitary condition, and will immediately notify owner of any damages to the premises or its contents, or any inoperable appliances or equipment. Tenant will surrender premises at termination, in as good condition as received, nothing beyond normal wear. Tenant will be responsible for any and all damage (over and above the $500.00 damage deposit) caused by tenant or his or her family, invitees, and guests including any and all attorney and court fees. It is understood that the owners insurance does not cover tenants personal property.

ENTRIES AND INSPECTION: Owner will have the right to enter the premises in case of emergency, to make necessary or agreed repairs, alterations, improvements, and supply necessary or agreed services.

INDEMNIFICATION: The tenant and tenant’s guests shall hereby indemnify and hold harmless the landlord against any and all claims of personal injury or property damage or loss arising from use of the premises or landlord’s personal property, including but not limited to kayaks and life preserver vests, regardless of the nature of the accident, injury or loss. Tenants expressly recognize that any insurance for property damage or loss, which the landlord may maintain on this property, does not cover the personal property or injury of tenants, and that tenants should purchase their own insurance for themselves and guests if such coverage is desired.

SECURITY DEPOSIT: The security deposit is refundable if this agreement is met and there is no damage and the home is left in clean condition. The balance of all deposits will be refunded within two weeks from the date possession is delivered back to the owner or his authorized agent, together with a statement showing any changes made against such deposits.

CANCELLATION POLICY: As established through Airbnb.

TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY: Tenant expressly acknowledges and agrees that this Agreement is for transient occupancy of the property, and that tenants do not intend to make the property a residence or household.

STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS: No refunds will be given for storms, outages, road closures, or road conditions. There shall be no refunds due to shortened stays because of weather conditions, outages or road conditions.

FIREARMS/FIREWORKS: No firearms or fireworks or other hazardous materials shall be used in or around the property.

PARKING: Parking is limited to (2) compact cars in garage (1) compact car in carport.
