Relax in your own private room and modern bathroom with spacious shower in a lovely updated mid-century home in one of Austin's most charming neighborhoods. A screened in porch complete with ping pong table and a backyard shaded with large pecan trees are yours to enjoy during your stay. The house is just adjacent to both a neighborhood greenbelt with a hiking trail as well as the Mueller neighborhood's stunning and expansive park, featuring central Texas native prairie, fish pond, jogging and biking trails, and a lovely panorama of downtown Austin. There are two neighborhood pools within walking distance. The backyard features a small playhouse, perfect for the kids if you travel as a family. The room features a full bed, closet, bookshelves, desk, fan, and private bath that is only accessible from the room. The house is completely updated with a modern open plan in the main space, and uniquely furnished with antiques handed down from our families. The house is a 3/2, and we use one of the bedrooms as a home office.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the main room, dining room and kitchen, and may cook in the kitchen as well as store food there. Dedicated space can be made available in the fridge for your items upon request. The backyard is yours to enjoy as well.
Please ask us if you'd like to use the record player or TV with Apple TV & blu-ray player. TV in main room may not be available at all times as we often have screening to do for our jobs, but we're happy to schedule around advance requests for use.
It is likely that we will be in the house during your stay. Michael works from home and will likely be in his home office working during the day. We are happy to offer guidance about our favorite places to visit and to eat out. We always respect our guests' privacy and guests are welcome to keep to themselves, but we're approachable and always available to answer questions.
Cherrywood and Upper Boggy Creek are older neighborhoods with charming cottages as well as mid-century homes, large old trees, and a lovely and constantly flowing creek. The neighborhood features some of Austin's favorite restaurants. There is a restaurant row on Manor Road featuring Mi Madre's (our favorite for breakfast tacos), Hoover's Cooking (Southern/BBQ), El Chile (Tex Mex), and a few celebrated new American places that are great for a dinner date, like Dai Due and The Salty Sow. The neighborhood features two great coffee shops: Cherrywood Coffee House (also great for free morning Yoga and open late with a full kitchen), and Thunderbird Coffee. All of this is within walking distance. Our home is also just across the road from the new Mueller neighborhood, also completely within walking distance, which has an amazing and very large park, perfect for joggers and bikers. Mueller also features the Thinkery, which is Austin's children's museum, and one of the city's biggest and best farmer's markets on Sunday mornings. There are also two yoga studios. Patterson Park, which is one block away from us in Boggy Creek, has a pool and a tennis center. Mueller's neighborhood pool is accessible for non-residents with a small charge of $3. Those who like to bike can rent bikes from Manor Road's Windmill Bicycles, and will enjoy riding around the neighborhood as well as down the east side. Downtown is only a 15 minute bike ride from the house.
The 21 bus is a short walk from the front door and will take you down the east side and within short walking distance of the UT campus. 21 will also connect with the 20 bus, which will get you downtown within minutes. Rent bikes from the local bike shop, Windmill bicycles, and the whole east side and downtown are accessible within 15-20 minutes.
We ask that our guests just leave the space as they found it. Please clean up after any kitchen use. All dishes, cookware and serving items located in the kitchen you are welcome to use.
Help yourself to Brita filtered water and refillable sparkling water in the fridge. Otherwise, please make your own arrangements for meals and drinks or purchase groceries to cook or eat at home, as we will not have other food/drink share items.
