A riverside Scandanavian 'hus' with ensuite facilities nestling in the grounds of a private house, Heron Cottage. Just walk from the garden to footpaths leading through the surrounding woodland and up onto the open moor or just relax by the river.
The garden room is a triple glazed Scandinavian hus. It's a warm, bright space with large windows looking across the river to the woods. Private and quiet, it's the ideal place to unwind, take a walk in any direction or just enjoy sitting by the river to read a book or paddle your feet.
Dartmoor is still an easy drive to the south Devon coasts and we are superbly placed to explore the West Country. We are also right on the "Two Moors Way" so we are a perfectly situated for those who love to walk!
We provide tea and coffee making facilities and there is a radio with a docking station as well as WiFi but no mobile signal which could be considered a plus if your trying to get away from it all.
The garden room has a large feather cushion sofa, ideal for reading or taking a nap and a table should you feel compelled to work.
The bed is a very comfortable super king size and can also be split in 2 making two generous singles beds if you prefer. There is room for a cot or childs bed, if you would like me to provide a futon and bedding please let me know in advance, there will be a small additional charge.
The bathroom is en-suite and has a shower, sink and toilet. All towels and toiletries are provided.
The garden room is self contained but please do let us know if we can help with anything, we want you to enjoy your stay with us and see the best of Dartmoor.
You have access through Heron Cottage garden and please feel free to enjoy the lower garden and river as your own space.
Breakfast can be taken in the cottage but if the weather is fine you can enjoy a delicious home-cooked breakfast in the garden. Please get in touch for more details.
I work part time but will make myself available to answer any questions you may have. If you are staying more than a couple of nights and need to use an iron, hairdryer or a washing machine I can make these available to you.
Murray or I will be around to make breakfast for you and offer advice on where to go and what to do. There are plenty of guides available in the garden room as well as books for you to borrow.
We have a very friendly border terrier, Treacle, who gets on with everyone including other dogs.
If you bring your dog I would request that you bring their bed or basket, avoid allowing them on the bed or sofa and clear up after them. Sorry, any damage will need to be paid for.
The room is not set up for self catering but we can recommend some excellent places to eat out.
Not really any rules, just no smoking please and we live in a small hamlet and would appreciate your consideration of our neighbours should you be home late.
We aim to give you a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day but regret that the garden room is not equipped for you to prepare food in the room so request that you eat out during the day and in the evenings.
We are both open and outgoing, Murray and I have travelled extensively for work and pleasure and decided to settle in this beautiful and unspoilt quiet corner of Devon.
We really love where we live, enjoy sharing it with friends and family and are happy to help people make the most of their stay. We love long walks, good food made with fresh local produce.
