Winter lodging: Speaking of ambiance, our"state of the art" Napoleon wood stove defines our comfort zone! Cozy up to it and watch those beautiful flames dance through the glass while sipping coffee in the morning or hot chocolate after an amazing day on the slopes! You will hear it crackling in the morning as you awaken to the smell of fresh coffee brewing below as your hosts will do that for you. Did I mention we spoil our guests in the morning? We will send you off to ski while we do the breakfast dishes as well as other spoilers not even mentioned here!
Winters are a fabulous time to enjoy the over-sized hot tub next to the creek which you will hear flowing under the ice. Sit under the big sky, count the stars and let it work the kinks out of your body.
We love people and making new friends. We would be delighted to get to know you. We would also honor your need for rest and solitude. The room has a flat screen TV/DVD player, DISH 120 - (Aug - April 7)
Our retreat is also a small farm, you can enjoy watching our herd of goats frolic in the yard, field, and hills. You might want to cuddle a kid or try your hand at milking or enjoying fresh eggs for breakfast from our hens. Please note: while our reviews would have you think you are booking at a monastery, there IS activity going on here during the day this summer. We are having a bridge built across the creek and a barn constructed on the other side. We have recently purchased a small sawmill and lumber is being milled on site from the trees around our property. We are also doing extensive landscaping on our new property and beside the creek. Our retreat is a work in progress.
DO make yourself at home, put your feet up on the coffee table and DO tell us how we can make things better. That’s a rule! Hang out with us for a stimulating chat or keep to yourself we are fine either way.
Please do understand that cell and internet services are not optimum in the mountains and maintaining adequate and consistent service is challenging and often frustrating. There IS, however, unlimited service during LATE night to early morning. We have no control over internet service interruptions. I wish we did!
We are really laid back and want our guests to relax and put their feet up on the coffee table. Please just mind your manners and enjoy great hospitality! We do not allow smoking in our home or on our decks; if smoking, us an ash receptacle even in the yard. Thanks! We appreciate alcohol consumption being kept to a moderate amount and of course, no drugs. DUH! Things, like wiping shoes before going upstairs on the plush carpet and not laying on top of the vintage linen comforter, are courteous gestures, to be sure. Your children are most welcome. Please insist they behave by not abusing furniture, etc. Sheesh! Hate to even have to say it.
PET POLICY: Pets are NOT allowed upstairs (in rooms). As animal lovers, we understand the needs of travelers and vacationers with pet companions. Every effort will be made to facilitate an enjoyable experience for you AND your pet. Please observe these guidelines: Dogs are allowed in the house on the main level (wood floors) but NOT upstairs on the carpet and your room. If your pooch can sleep in a kennel at the bottom of the stairs, he is welcome. We can supply a kennel if you don´t travel with one. If your dog gets anxious at night you can sleep by them on the couch rather than allow them to keep others awake. A vet will tell you giving him a Benedryl will calm your dog and not hurt him so that could be an option for a restful night for all. If you like, we can even walk him/her in the morning and let you sleep in.
We can even allow them to run loose and play in the creek while you are in attendance. Dogs are not to be left to run loose when you are not watching as we have farm animals and an abundance of deer in the area.
You must accept full responsibility for any damage that done by your pet and/or incurred by your pet. Please inform us, when booking that you are bringing a pet. You can consider your pet an additional guest and indicate as such on the reservation or you can pay when you arrive as included with the taxes at 15.00/night. Be sure and inform us when booking that you will be bringing your dog and let us know what needs you have. We will even give him some treats!

I am retired from public service work. I love my home and creating a warm and welcoming environment. This includes baking and sharing homemade bread and pastries and serving up creative breakfasts. I am a sports enthusiast. I enjoy cross-country skiing and ATVing.
Phil, my husband, is also retired from public service work, he is a world traveler. He enjoys fly fishing, gardening, grilling and caring for his small herd of goats which, by the way, are most entertaining. A former two-sport college athlete, he loves to talk sports. Together we enjoy exploring the woodlands on our ATVs. We are both quite busy these days trying to establish some added landscaping, a bridge across the creek and a new barn.
We love people and making new friends. Our faith is central to who we are and we hope it shows through in how we extend a welcome to guests.
