Walk to Lansdowne/TD Place, Carleton U, Dow's Lake, canal paths, and trendy shops & cafes on Bank St. Quick bus ride or pleasant stroll downtown. Charming comfortable house and lovely garden. Gay friendly. Parking.
Your mini-suite is comprised of the old front parlour of this century home, joined with a sunroom/office (the original front porch).
Down the hall are welcoming common spaces. The informal dining room is open to the kitchen. You have full use of the spacious fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and food prep island. There are two full-sized fridges. I use one, and guests use the other. You have your own food storage shelves. Your private bathroom is beside the kitchen.
There's a beautiful family room at the back with a wall of windows looking out over the very special garden.
This is a lovely house with the luxury of an excellent location.
Your ground floor mini-suite has a sleeping area with queen-sized bed and two shelf units above suitcase storage. The sleeping area opens onto a sunroom/office with a desk and comfy armchair. The room has attractive decor (notice the Japanese shoji screens on the wall). There are bedside reading lamps and table, accessible plugs for re-charging devices, free WiFi, opening windows with adjustable blinds, quality cotton bedding, a ceiling fan over the bed, even guest bath robes. You have exclusive use of the bathroom on the ground floor with plenty of room for your toiletries. I provide each guest with two fresh towells.
Please note, this is not a self-contained apartment and it is not suitable for parents with children or babies.
I also have a new, larger unit on the second floor that you can find listed under "studio-size room w new ensuite", or check the link at the bottom of the reviews for "other properties" (it's the same house).
You can use all the common spaces in the house - the kitchen and dining room, family room, deck, and garden. I've got a lockable bike shed.
I'm a retired professional public servant so I am around during the day. That said, I have an active busy life so you have plenty of privacy. I've been living in Ottawa 40 years and can happily help you with directions and suggestions. I provide tourist pamphlets and maps in your room and can suggest the most convenient way for you to get where you want to go.
I am friendly and outgoing, but respectful of people who are introverted or private.
I am able to receive you when you arrive and to see you off when you depart.
This is a quiet little side street, minutes from lively Bank Street. I have a two-car driveway. If you are traveling by car you can either park in the driveway (just make sure not leave on foot and block me in) or there is free parking on the street right in front of the house.
I trust that my guests are respectful about cleaning up after themselves in the common areas. Please be as accurate as you can about your arrival time, or text me an update if you are delayed, so that I can be sure to be here to let you in and welcome you.

I'm an active, outgoing, friendly, retired professional. I have three grown daughters and four little grandkids. I love to travel. I've been to South East Asia four times, India twice, northern Europe, and several great cities in the USA. I always travel independently or with a friend. At home I love to garden, hike, kayak, snowshoe in the winter, cook, read, do yoga, work on house reno projects and spend time with friends and family . I volunteer at the Ottawa Jazz Festival. I grew up in Toronto but I've lived in Ottawa 40 years. I walk everyday for errands in my pedestrian neighbourhood. I enjoy people and am very happy when guests have a great time at my place.
