I stayed at Tanja's for one week in August and loved it, particularly the balcony. Tanja is easy to communicate with, directions were clear, and she is really friendly and helpful. Even on really hot days the apartment is cool and breezy, no need for air conditioning. It is centrally located near several metro lines and within walking distance to several cool neighborhoods, with tons of food & drink options nearby. If you happen to be gluten free, there are 2 great grocery stores with lots of gluten free options and a gluten free bakery (that was sadly closed for vacation while I was there) a few blocks away.
I highly recommend Tanja's apartment. It is just outside of the major tourist areas but right in the heart of a busy quintessential Parisian neighborhood. I was able to walk 30 min (approx) to Notre Dame and 30 min opposite direction to Sacre Couer. It is a short metro trip to all central sights...and near both the Gare East and Gare North which can connect to everywhere else. Gare North can be accessed from the CDG airport by Roissy Bus (inquire for directions at the tourist stand or follow signd) also by RER train B. If you take the metro you will need to take a shuttle to Terminal 1 where you connect to the RER. As far as the (URL HIDDEN) was a dream come true! From the spiral staircase walk up to the wrought iron wrap around balcony on a corner unit! I was in paradise. It is noisy- but full of sounds of the city that are a constant reminder you are not in your own country anymore. Cigarette smoke did come into the apartment from the street. I was ok with it but just a warning for anyone with a sensitivity. The apparment is surrounded by beautiful buildings with gorgeous balconies draped in flowers and plants. I could have spent my whole trip sitting on the balcony sketching and people watching. The balcony is great for coffee, wine, lets in great light and has views of a cathedral(beautiful church bells as well). The neighborhood seems trendy as there were many cafes that were packed full of people starting 8-9pm-1am. The walk down St Denis (right around the corner) to the seine river is full of multi ethnic restaurants and is very lively. It is also a short walk to Canal St. Martin where you will see people gathered by the banks drinking, smoking and socializing. The apartment has original gorgeous wood floors and windows , a green bathtub and is very artsy. I appreciated that Tanja did not have a TV and had a big table in the kitchen dining area to spread out laptops, journals and maps. It is not an updated apartment - which is what I loved. I went to another air bnb for half of my trip which was heartbreaking. Again, if you want the quintessential Paris artsy experience (walking up a lot of stairs) stay here the whole time. There is a supermarket next door and a big kitchen with a 4 burner gas stove. All rave reviews from me. Tanja is a great host. She was totally accomodating and helpful. She waited an extra hour for me to check in as I got lost on the way there. I loved it and will return!
