Turn of the century home (think mini Downton Abbey) gracefully restored, Available space is the guest quarters/four bedrooms on the third floor (no elevator) and (sometimes) two bedrooms on the second floor. Long-term guests have use of the kitchen, laundry room and common rooms. We are close to Cape Cod, Newport and Providence . Brown University and Rhode Island School of design are twenty minutes away.
Victorian/Edwardian home with 22 rooms, original details such as oak and cherry wainscoting, stained glass windows, large porch with water view and consistent summer breezes. Wrap-around porch and small garden with breakfast tables.
Guests will have bedrooms in the upstairs guest quarters on the third floor but will have use of and access to the drawing room, morning room, and dining room,. Long-term guests may also enjoy use of the kitchen, and the below-stairs movie room and laundry room. The garden and front porch make lovely breakfast settings, weather permitting. We require two- days' notice and confirmation and acceptance through Airbnb in order to book space. We only book one family at a time so it is first-come, first served. Hosts are in residence (this is our home) and friendly. Since this is a private home there is no self check-in available (we wait for you and greet you upon arrival). The house alarm is set at Midnight or after all guests are in bed and is off by 7:30 or whenever guests need to leave, if earlier. However, we are not fond of early rising so, if you need to be up and out really early, we recommend that you find another accommodation and stay with us when you have a more leisurely schedule. We make exceptions, of course, for long-term guests who may be tied to a plane or train schedule . As you can see from our guest reviews our visitors enjoy this experience most when they realize that it is just that - an experience- not just a room and a bed. This is an antique, Victorian home and reflects our approach to living. Although we utilize social media and up-to-date technology for business and our many social justice causes, in our home we prefer to enjoy the manners and gracious living of another time when people actually gathered over a meal to share interests, information and conversation. We enjoy hosting visitors from all over the world. Please join us! We would love to host you! Pam and Al
Hosts will interact with guests as little or as much as the guest prefers, but are always available for questions and advice on area attractions and local history. We enjoy interacting with our visitors when they join us for breakfast.
My wife speaks Italian and we enjoy visitors from Italy and around the world as we are not able to travel right now. We can accommodate entire families or groups depending on space availability and only book to one group or family at a time. Please remember when you book that children are people, too! They should be included in the guest count when you book. We have a porta-crib, removable bed railings, highchairs and many, many toys and stuffed animals around for little ones to enjoy during their stay.
We expect guests to treat the home as their own and with consideration of the historic setting. We prefer guests who are already staying with us in by Midnight unless they advise us of a later arrival (weddings, concerts). Initial arrival time (check-in) is between 3:00 p.m. and 9 p.m. Once Airbnb allows numbers to be shared (this occurs only after an accepted/confirmed booking), you will have our number to call or text us if your flight or other travel is delayed. We understand delays and traffic problems and allow for late arrivals although guests should stay in touch with the hosts. However, no guests will be checked in before 3 PM.
