A true Maine camp, this 100-year-old cottage is literally right at the edge of a pristine, spring-fed lake just 15 mins. from Portland, with three double beds, new 1/2 bath . A private place to relax and swim vacation away!
Welcome to the pristine beauty of old Maine. This is a classic camp, well maintained and clean, with plenty of beds, a fridge, a gas burner cooktop and a toaster oven. There's also an old fashioned wood cook stove that we actually use for cooking in the fall. The first thing you notice here is the quiet. Far from roads and lights, you may see a bald eagle swoop past in the morning, or get a visit from the pair of loons that make the lake their home.
A simple dock and float give you easy swimming access to the crystal clear water.
Little Duck Pond is a safe haven for kayakers, paddleboards and canoes, with only the occasional trawling motor on a canoe. the camp is very secluded, about a mile deep in the woods, far from the noise of civilization, but we do have wireless access, and cellphones work fine.
You have full access to the camp, which has electricity and gas cooktop. The camp has a clean, cozy half-bath with running hot and cold water (from the lake) and a flush-style toilet. The kitchen is plumbed as well.
Be aware of the peacefulness of the area and just leave the camp the way you found it please. Thank you!
There are large bass in the lake, if you like fishing, and kayaks and paddles on site (use at your own risk).
If you happen to be here on 4th of July, the lake has a tradition of "competing fireworks," so expect to see a relatively long and "explosive" light show, before things return to normal the next day.
No smoking indoors please. There's a nice fire pit for toasting marshmallows. No motorized water boats or jet skis are allowed on this lake.
