Jerome Van Wert and Stephen Mulrooney are the resident owners of this home we affectionately call Chez La Vie. It is very centrally located in Central Hyde Park. If you love to walk to discover the city you're visiting, we are a healthy stroll away via beautiful park walkways to world class museums and major city attractions like "The Plaza". By car and public transportation we are minutes away from just about any destination in the city. By the way, Kansas City is the friendliest car and parking city we've ever been in.
We are not Kansas City natives. We stumbled upon this wonder city and this incredible neighborhood called Hyde Park, and are now two of their greatest fans. When you come to visit, we sincerely believe you will feel the same, no matter where you're from. We are from NYC, and established our home here in Kansas City, MO in 2008. Jerome used to be a government contractor for GSA. That's how we wound up here. Now he's creating a local film festival called OM Film Fest. Stephen is a retired EAP coordinator for New York State. Now he's a published author of two books and two more on the way. So, we're both in the joyous creative stage of our lives. We are international travelers who love all people. Someone once told us when we first arrived in Kansas City, that the friendliest people in the country live in the Mid-West; and the friendliest people in the Mid-West live in Kansas City; and the friendliest people in Kansas City live in Hyde Park. We've come to experience that to be true.
Every Sunday, we host, Café La Vie in our home from 9am to 12pm, where we invite anyone and everyone to join us simply for coffee or tea and a sense of global community. There is no structure to it. People come and go, gracing each other like the beautiful thoughts you may have while walking through a peaceful space.
Some wonderful facts about Kansas City from the on line New World Encyclopedia: "Officially nicknamed the City of Fountains, Kansas City has over 200 listed fountains, with more, both public and private, added regularly. The city claims to have the second most in the world, just behind Rome. The city also has more boulevards than any city except Paris and has often been called by locals "Paris on the Plains.""
Kansas City may be the most exciting city in the country now-a-days with all that is happening here, in the arts, theater, music, dance, business, technology, etc, that Jerome and Stephen have given it the new nickname, "Nouveau Paris".
Come and experience Kansas City, this wonderful "Nouveau Paris" and stay at Chez La Vie, where your mind, body and heart will be at OM.
