Tucked away in the canyons of the Oregon Coast Range this cozy little cabin is located three miles from two of the most impressive waterfalls. Open all year are the wonderful hiking trails at Golden and Silver Falls State Park. The road to the cabin follows the Millicoma River through farmlands, wetlands, and is county and state maintained. To reach Coos Bay, takes 30 minutes, the coast and/or sand dunes is another 15 minutes.
Built in the early 60's as a fishing retreat, and completely remodeled, this little cabin is located right on the river and in the heart of old logging history. With a bright open fully-equipped kitchen, and living area, and heated by a gas fireplace, it makes winter or summer a perfect time to relax and enjoy the scenery. The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, with lots of comforters and pillows, with a small rustic-built-in bunk bed in a small room right off of the main bedroom.
During summer or winter, enjoy watching blue heron, ducks, deer, otters, kingfishers, eagles and other river wildlife. You may even see a bear or two enjoying the apples in our orchard.
Chinook salmon spawn in front of the cabin from November to January and steelhead fishing starts mid-December and runs through March. Trout season runs from May 26th through October 31st. In the fall experience the beautiful colors of nature, and in the winter perhaps a snowfall or two.
Spring brings early wildflowers like the Chocolate Lily, the white and pink Trillium, and the beautiful native rhododendrons in colors from white to deep purple. During the months of July through late September, fill your basket with fresh blackberries or spend time picking apples in our orchard.
In October, visit the Mahaffy Ranch in the town of Allegany, and pick out that perfect pumpkin. Enjoy their corn maze and cannon, and the best apple cider in the State!
(We have provided several books on our area's local history, covering logging, legends and mysteries, along with vintage photos covering the original town of Allegany and Golden & Silver Falls. Hike above Golden Falls and explore the old homestead, making for an exciting day trip.)
With 80' of river frontage, watch river birds, otters, ospreys, salmon, chipmunks, quail, deer and the occasional elk, who venture down to enjoy the river. Build a fire in the fire pit on the river bank, below the cabin's private deck, and enjoy an evening under the stars. We even provide the wood!
We provide plenty of towels, so pack your toothbrush, and those books you've wanted to read, and stay awhile. Whatever you choose, we know you'll enjoy your stay.
For any emergency or assistance, when needed and requested.

My husband grew up alongside this little cabin. When it came up for sale in 2010, we couldn't think of anything better than to open it to family, friends, and travelers. Our family has been a part of this wonderful valley since the 50's. Never crowded, it is a great place to kick back and relax. The weather is milder here and we don't get that cold wind or fog off the ocean. This is a rural area, but also a safe and fun place to bring your family. Ours grew up here.
We really enjoy all of the seasons here. We look forward to the summer barbecues, swimming, and just being outside. Fall is wonderful with all the trees changing colors and the salmon traveling up the river to spawn. One of the best places to see this is right in front of this little cabin. Winter brings wild mushroom picking and the rain, which raises the river and makes Golden and Silver Falls so spectacular. Fishing is one of my family's most favorite hobbies, so we live where we can do that. In Spring everything is green, the birds start to nest, and the mountain mist is beautiful.
