We enjoyed a refreshingly different 5 day hideaway skiing break at the top of Kronplatz/Plan de Corones (German/Italian) during a cold spell in January 2016 and enjoyed it immensely.
The Olymp apartment is on the top/2nd floor at about 2,250m and sits at the head of black and red runs right from the door. It is a short, if steep walk from/to all the mountain top gondola stations and just above the old refuge restaurant.
The lifts and restaurants closed at about 4.30 pm when we were there, so if its nightlife you're after, this isn't for you. If self catering or having breakfast and/or a late afternoon meal in one of the many piste restaurants, followed by an evening in and being first out on freshly bashed pistes is more your style, you're in for a treat.
There are various wi-fi hotspots on the pistes, but not in the apartment and TV is Italian or German language, so be prepared.
We parked at the Olang gondola station (excellent pizzas etc there) , where Hugo met us, took us up (with our bags of supermarket supplies) and showed us the ropes. If you're using public transport, the Perca-Percha / Ried Kronplatz gondola runs directly from the railway station.
We hired skis etc at the top (at a discount). At the end of our stay, the house meister took us and our luggage up to the gondola station on his snowmobile.
The apartment is clean, modern and fully equipped. There is a ski and boot room in the basement, together with two table tennis tables. Our host Edeltraub was clear and timely with her communications and her partner Hugo is also an excellent ski instructor. We would go again.
