We had a wonderful stay in Ca' Magherita. Carla's sister Francesca met us at the bus station at Piazzele Roma and led us to the apt., even helping with our bags. She gave us a nice orientation to Venice, suggesting some places to visit and giving us a map with a few routes marked. The apartment was as described and pictured. Very clean, modern with new fixtures. The kitchen is small, but well-equipped. The bed is quite comfortable. It was easy for us to feel at home quickly. The wi-fi access is ok, (though sometimes a little spotty: the modem is in a upstairs apartment, and we sometimes had to move around a bit to reconnect) but we usually had very good internet access. The clothes washer worked fine. Noise from the school wasn't an issue: only some lively kids at the beginning and end of the school day. For us, the best thing about the apartment is the location. It's located in the Sistiere Dorsoduro, which is a much quieter, less touristic neighborhood than the areas around Piazza San Marco or the Rialto, where most tourists go. The walk from P. Roma was easy (about 10 minutes, with only 5 bridges to cross). From the apartment, we could walk to all the major sites we wanted to visit. We never used the vaporetti, and we saw a lot of interesting neighborhoods, shops and places of interest as we walked. The local square (Campo Santa Margharita) is near a university, and is a wonderful place to hang out and have a drink in the afternoon (you must have a spritz). There are food vendors' stalls and a grocery, as well as an excellent meat market, all in the area of the square. From the apt., we could walk to the Academia in about 15-20 minutes, and to the P. San Marco in about 30-40 minutes. Walking to the Rialto was about the same; perhaps 30 minutes or so. Recommendations: Two local restaurants (Pane, Vino e San Daniele less than 10 minutes away, and Osteria da Codroma, at the end of the street-about 250 feet away!) Both had excellent food and service. The grocery in C. Santa Margherita is adequate. For a slightly bigger supermarket, Conad City to the south on the Fondamenta Zattere al Ponte Longo, or an even bigger supermarket, the Coop near Piazzale Rome. For bread, pastries and a morning cappucino, find the Mejer. One in C. Santa Margherita and a better one on the way to P. Roma. All in all, we were very happy with this apartment. Communication with Carla was easy. We had no problems, and we enjoyed this neighborhood so much that we decided to return (but to another apartment as Carla's wasn't available). All in all, we recommend this rental highly and without any hesitation. Grazie mille Carla!
